Awesome interview! Finally got home to watch it. I didn't realize it was a video, you guys made it song like it was just audio. He seems like he's one of us (a fan), not just of turtles but of geek culture. I always imagined David Wise in my head to be some smarmy writer who did cartoon scripts only for the cash. But he can pull titles and quotes out of the air after how many years? The guy is awesome.

Wasn't Wise asked to do a couple of eps of the new show but he refused?

I remember hearing that somewhere.

Wise referenced this in the interview extras of "Transformers: The Complete First Season" (though it's available on the season three/season four boxset in the U.S I think). He turned it down because he'd made his statement on the original series.

Wise had to go through the ringer with networks and companies. When he intially wrote the underlooked G1 finale "The Rebirth", it was originally a five-part story, but budget cuts stemming from the end of the toyline's popularity moved it to three and Wise was forced to turn it into a toy parade

Now that it's posted on the official site, One or two other quickie notes:

We did bombard him with a few other questions after the interview.
Two that stand out most:

Supposedly, the only reason why Baxter is white in the old cartoon show is because the people at Fred Wolf Films THOUGHT he was white in the comics. The original issues where drawn kind of crudely by today's turtle standards, but I thought it was pretty clear he wasn't a white guy .. I guess Peter and Kevin didn't see the need to correct their new business partners and went with it .

Was he tired of the Technodrome not being used to it's fullest and always being stranded?
No. After the three part Season 3 finale he wanted to ditch it totally and try something new. The toy had been out and there was no real need to keep it there.....

tiny question. How come you did the interview outside in front of the building instead of indoors?

It IS indoors, hence the background noise

Yeah, I find this very jarring now. I always considered them brothers, but they are never mentioned as such in the OT (unless someone knows of an example I don't.)

Anyway, sweet interview! This guy has a great memory. It always frustrates me how certain ... TMNT comic writers ... cannot remember a lot of how things came to pass.

And see ... Michaelangelo was supposed to be a pothead.

Enjoyed the interview, to bad the noise in the background challenged me to hear everything he said. So based on that fact im wondering if he revealed how shredder came in touch with krang, and why the turtles where portrayed as amphibians in the start of the series?

we should protest to Lionsgate and get them to have david wise have a feature on the dvd. Its obvious Wise wants to do it, but Lionsgate is being stupid
