Got it. Very poignant, especially as a guy with a daughter about that age, though I do wonder if the artwork (which was stylish and good) was necessarily a good fit for what the story was really going and driving for.

The art style is wonderful, I prefer it for mostly light-hearted stories like this.

Its nice to see Tales ending with more "character moments" then some "epic battle that changes the universe" like other comic series do. It's why I prefer TMNT over many other series.

See, I don't know if it really was "light-hearted." I mean, it was on the surface, but it actually had a very deep heart and meaning beneath that. The kind of super stylized, almost anime look sort of held it back from its full impact, IMHO.

Which isn't to say the art wasn't good. Not saying that at all... in a different kind of TMNT story it'd be perfect.

Agreed. Harmon's drawing style wouldn't have been appropriate to "The Burning Man," either. I know what you mean.

Haven't ordered this one yet but am looking forward to it.

Got it today. So, so good. I think Dan Berger is really underappreciated as a writer. I think many of his Vol. 2 Tales are among some of the best Turtle tales ever told.

I'm totally looking forward to "Dark Shadows," and hope (maybe, maybe, maybe) that someone at Nick can toss Dan some freelance scripting / art work in the future. Because his stories are really the best of both worlds: not too heavy or violent, yet with enough depth and emotional resonance to fans of all ages.

Well I'm sure that with so many members of the Foot throughout the years Casey must have fought that particular person in Mirage continuity sooner or later. LOL

Um, guys? Your crossover cameo is misplaced.

Spoiler:
That is so totally not Khan. That's DragonFace.

Yeah, I just got mine today and though I missed a page when I didn't see Khan. Wtf was he thinking?

Anyways, I really liked this story. Laughed quite hard at the Bert and Ernie joke, and was pleased to see that Dario draws a pretty April (I don't think we've seen his take on her before this). But I didn't really like the way the Raph/Casey moment was drawn... I guess they were going for a humorous effect, but it should have been more touching.

One weird thing was the fact that Ernie was friends with the pussy-boy yuppie that dropped his wallet... they seem like an odd match, unless the dude was a John that got hookers from Ernie.

Just picked up #63-67 yesterday.

This. Was. So. Damn. Good. Probably my favorite of the bunch, very narrowly beating #64. I liked this better than #55. I liked this better than #55.

I disagree with anyone saying the Turtle vignettes didn't need to be there. They absolutely added to the story. This is also the most I have ever liked Dario Bizuela's work; I guess the toning adds a lot.

So yeah, this one was definitely a fans-only issue, but it was definitely an awesome love letter to everyone who's stuck around this long.

And, and -- Shadow remembers Complete Carnage, even if Laird doesn't.

That bothered me too. As did the woman just happening to find Raph on the docks at the end. But ... you know, it's a Turtles comic. You can't expect everything to make sense.

Dan just told me that drawings of all those characters while Shadow was going on about her uncles were drawn by Dario's wife, pretty cool lol.

Some dude. Not a particularly important character.

Finally got round to the comic shop. Really enjoyed this issue. To start off with, the editorial mentioning The Mighty Boosh was amazing. The frontispiece was awesome. The pin-up was brilliant. The story was ace, had me laughing a coupla times. Especially dug the Raph/Casey moment. Really great issue.

On another note, one've my friends Sammy (an ex-boxer, massive beast of a man) was in town one night on the drink (along with some other mates, but I wasn't there.) They went past a bus stop, where Sammy saw a couple arguing. The bloke then smacked the lass in the face. Sammy intervened, got into a scuffle with the guy, and pretty much smashed him to the floor. The lass then jumped on Sammy, scratching hell out've his face. Honestly, his face looked like hell afterwards. He now maintains that he will never get involved in another situation like that again...
