It was left ambiguous and never followed up on, but she was rumored to be Yoshi's daughter.

In my defense, the story is convoluted, and not in a good way. Hana over hears the Foot ninjas saying that they tricked her, but no where does it reveal how she comes to the conclusion that she's his niece, or why she thought she was his daughter in the first place (aside from the Foot ninja misguiding her). Guess I just read it too fast.

Plus, like I said, I'm an idiot.

I don’t mind Yoshi becoming Splinter, but this may be crossing the line. What Nickelodeon should do is make us think it IS Karai, and then reveal that there are two girls that have the same name. One Karai will be the daughter of Yoshi, while the other will be Saki’s. Imagine if the turtles were in a struggle over this “Which one is our sister?” kind of thing.
