lol, don't feel too bad, Jeph.

When I first clicked on this thread, I thought that Karai(I guess?) #13 cover was actually supposed to be the April issue. Almost immediately I figured out my mistake, but it did happen to me nonetheless.

Of course... I recognized it almost immediately...

Like I said, don't feel too bad. Just somewhat bad.

TMNT #13: Okay, I'm really glad to find out that the heels from Dan Duncan's Karai sketches are gone from the final product--I'm waiting for the trades, so that's something I hadn't noticed until now.

The April issue: Barbara Kesel! Lurve her. And it's weird seeing IDW April not drawn by Duncan--his style is so distinctive that it's hard for me to see this cover as a depiction of the same person--she comes off as "attractive girl" instead of "April". And the more I think about it, the less I like her expression, which seems out of place, given the situation.

I'm not feeling the cover art for issue #13 whatsoever. If just seems...flat.

The April cover art looks pretty damn good though.

Does the reflection of the man in the sword resemble shredder (Oroko Saki) or the old splinter's past (Hamoto Yoshi)

So we have an issue with a female writer, and a female artist, starring a lead female character. Something tells me this issue will be all about FEMINISM.

The men in the issue will probably be portrayed as chauvinist pigs, while the feminist April saves the day.

Is this the first time a TMNT comic has ever been written by a female?

Dude, I don't usually call people out on these boards, but...

What the heck?!?

The fact that you assume that creative women working on a comic book must result in some kind of feminist agenda-driven story is a bad reflection on yourself.

Or maybe you were just trying to make a joke. I'll at least give you the benefit of the doubt, even if it wasn't a funny joke.

Once again my posts are being taken too seriously.

But for a serious question, is this the first TMNT comic written by a woman? I can't recall if any of the Volume 1 guest writers were female.

Fair enough, man. I've already put in my two cents. Next time, at least try to use emoticons if you're gonna play that type of joke.

As far as I know, this is the first time in the US. I don't know the gender of all the artists and writers who worked on the Hero Turtles comcis though. So it's possible women have drawn or written Turtles story overseas.

I agree with The Big Bad, I am more used to Duncan's April which is why I said the girl on the cover reminds me of a DC/Marvel type of character. She can almost pass for Mary Jane or a Barbara Gordon.

Duncan is taking a break during issues 13 and 14, and will return to being the book's artist at issue 15.

He pencilled the Michelangelo micro.

Also, I'm surprised no one's speculated on Shredder's "secret".

Spoiler:
In b4 "Utrom Shredder!"
