Cool

OT Slash needs more love. He has the worst design but as a character he was as insane as the others, or as far as the OT universe would allow.

I think I'd view the Fred Wolf version more fondly had he had a few more appearances to be a real villain.

In his first episode he's just used by a number of other villains. In his second, he's intentionally out of character. In his third and final appearance he's barely a cameo.

Ah, I remember now. This is the only Slash I have ever seen in motion:

And I have the toy from the anniversary release too eventhough I know next to nothing about his character except that he attacked the turtles.
Spoiler:
Just realized, the original Slash figure did come with a mace...

It's too bad Slash was never in 4kids, although Dark Leo from Fast Forward did feel like that shows incarnation of him.

If rumors are to be believed, Hun a la Turtles Forever was actually intended to be the 4Kids Slash, at least during the design phase.

One last comment to add:

Can I say I'm not huge on the trend of making Slash into a huge brute two or three times larger than the Turtles?

I've seen several posts on the Nick board about how glad people were that that version ended up larger than the Turtles because "that's how he should be."

But, uh ... since when? Part of the historic appeal of Slash, I think, is that he was properly a "fifth" Turtle. The closer he is in size and appearance to the Turtles, the better. Otherwise he loses a lot of that Bizarro-esque gimmick.

I think its because a lot of these writers are trying to combine Slash and Tokka into the same character, and Tokka was larger than the Turtles in the second movie.

Outside of the original toon, it just doesn't make sense for Slash and Tokka to exist in the same universe, so they combine the two of them together. Look at how many people say IDW's Slash looks more like Tokka.

well in Nick it kinda makes sense....

mutagen is all about the DNA right? and what you touch before you come into contact with the mutagen determines what you will become

well Spike touched Raph alot...and Raph was already mutated

so Spike's DNA combined with an already mutated turtle
unlike Raph who just touched a human

so that explains that I think XD but I can understand wanting to have Slash more like the turtles.

While this is a valid interpretation, it's worth noting that there's at least one previous occasion where touching a mutant turtle had no effect on someone's transformation--Bradford and Xever turned into a dog and a fish respectively despite having touched the turtles just before coming into contact with the mutagen--so if we were being perfectly consistent, Raph couldn't have been the genetic basis for Slash. Still, given that Mutagen does whatever the writers want it to do, who knows?

I always loved OT Slash, design and all. He might be my favorite incarnation of the character.

Yeah I had the same thought. Slash mutated into a "mutant ninja turtle" because that was his last interaction. It's a stretch, but I concede to it.

Yeah, I didn't like the OT Slash either. Nick Slash looks the most interesting, with IDW following in the looks department. Plus I don't care for the Archie comics, so that's a given.

I voted, but never commented.

Archie Slash all day long. He was a great anti-hero who gave the ultimate sacrifice. He will always have a special place in my heart. Nick Slash was effective creepy, but seemed too vindictive for really no reason. Why exactly was he so thrilled to wipe out the other Turtles? Because he took Raph's "They don't understand me!" to the extreme?

I think it's mostly his design and the whole "Binkie" ordeal.

Slash had the palm tree obsession in Archie too.

I voted Archie and Videogame. Me and my cousins flipped sh*t when we saw an evil turtle jump out of the back of Bebop's truck our first time playing TMNT III.

Yeah, I'm surprised he's running away with the vote. I mean, he was cool and I know they want him to be a baddie, but their only explanation was that the mutagen messed his mind up.

Over time he might become a fully realized character, but right now his story was a little rushed. However, I understand they were just trying to tell a Slash story in one episode and not make him take the spotlight of the whole season. Feldman killed it with his voice, he was perfect.

Archie Slash. He was simply the best. I think he received the best development out of all of them - he began as a peaceful neutral palm-tree lover who enjoyed the nature on his planet. And then, invaders come and destroy his come. Desperate, he strikes a deal with the evil brain-like creature Krang, who promises that he will create a palm-filled pocket dimension or something like that if he manages to kill the turtles with the help of the alien Bellybomb. (Well, I'm not kinda sure on the Krang part. I can't remember what their deal was actually about. ) After his defeat, he determines to have his revenge against the turtles. But after his defeat at the hands of the Mutanimals, Slash does receive what he mostly desires - a new home. Soon, to pay his debt with the Mutanimals, he becomes a hero, and saves the entire planet Earth by killing Null and Maligna by crashing Maligna's ship into the Sun... and by that killing himself. I think that Slash's transition from a neutral tree-hugger to a manipulated victim, to a an anti-hero, to a crazy psychotic villain and then into a tragic hero made Archie Slash superior to all the others.

As a close second comes Nick Slash who is simply a mentally-ill, psychotic, Raph-obsessed mutant. Corey Feldman really nailed his voice in "Slash and Destroy". I thought that was Gary Oldman doing the voice there. With the beautiful script and Feldman's potrayal, Nick Slash come off as a TMNT equivalent of Hannibal Lecter - calm and steady, and yet violent and crazy.
