Which is worse? TMNT 3 or TMNT 2014?

That reminds me though. Did anyone see the turtles were their weapons in this movie? I see Leonardo use his sword a few seconds in the sewers in the final battle. Raphael used his Sai to block for Leonardo. Donatello used his Bo a little in the sewer fight and popping the car, and Michaelangelo used his nunchucks to grab on from falling. That's about all I can remember about the weapons being used in the fights.

How is this an absurd poll? It's a legitimate query I have for people who did not like the new movie. The poll is not going to accurate because while this poll is mostly for people who did not like the new movie I know it's going to be thrown off by people who did like the new movie and will vote for TMNT 3 just so the 2014 movie won't have as many votes.

Hands down 3 was the worst move thus far. I remember seeing it way back when it came out as a kid and instantly saw how much worse the puppetry was compared to the original two. The plot was the definition of forgettable. Even though its terrible, I still watch it from time to time just to have a good laugh.

The 2014 movie actually surprised me. I went in knowing of all the negative media and forum hype. Other than a few gripes with the pacing with the origin, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't wait for the sequel.

There isn't anything in the trailers that I find appealing. Not one.. shred.
The real point of not going to see the movie, is to not give them any more money. I'll eventually see it...but I refuse to pay for it on principal. I will not support the continuation of this iteration. i will shout it down every chance I get. If you liked it, that's great and all, but this is not a TMNT movie in my opinion. I don't think I should go to the theater just so I can speak to specifics. It won't change anything for me, and in doing so, i'm telling them, please, make MORE. It goes against everything i've said.

As I mentioned in another thread, a friend went last night. She recounted everything. It's actually worse than I'd thought.

I did as you said I should, with both MOS and TDKR. I was opposed to both films, but I figured, maybe i'm wrong? Maybe I'm just not giving it a chance.

MOS made me so incredibly angry I wanted to beat the **** out of Snyder. I paid to be insulted.

What in the hell does that mean? Evolution is a process, not a bloody casino. Evolution doesn't win anything, any more than brewing a coffee "wins".
The Christian iconography was brow beating, and Amy Adams is no Lois Lane.
Worst of all, baby Kal-el absorbed a skull of alien DNA. Those are just a tiny handful of what this movie did wrong.

I rated the films we've gotten so far. TMNT 1990 is the best of them, BUT it's about 50% of what a live action TMNTcould be.
SOTO isn't great, I know that, I have eyes...lol.
TMNT3 is garbage I couldn't watch it all in one sitting. it's really bad, and the animatronics are bad.

But if you really wanted to compare the quality of the films, you can't judge effects separated by decades. That's rather unfair. All you can do is judge how the tools were used, and to what effect.

Let's try and keep the discussion civil. I think we can do that.

They're both badly-written and badly-directed movies. Both of their plots are stupid and often illogical, not even holding up within their own "worlds". They're kind of equally bad in very different ways. But the overall cheapness of TMNT3 gives it that kinda "so bad it's hilarious" quality that the new movie doesn't have. I'm more forgiving of movies that are bad on a relatively low budget than ones that are bad on a high one. There's much more of a cheese factor that's pretty entertaining itself. TMNT3 movie is a movie you can watch and laugh at. IMO, that gives it a lot more re-watch value than the new one, which is just... kinda dull and obnoxious, but in a way I can't find entertaining.

The thing is, it's kind of unfair to compare the 2014 film to the third TMNT movie. What it really should be compared to is the first TMNT movie from 1990. And while I haven't seen the newest film, I'm willing to bet (based on what I've seen in the commercials and previews, as well as from having seen the first three Transformers films) that it's no where near as enjoyable as the first movie was.

Because Jim Henson died, perhaps? I dunno, that's the only reason I've heard people say. Anyone else know differently? Please clue me in, because I'd like to know why the suits in III were worse also.

Henson's company didn't do the suits in 2 or 3.
those were the days when sequels had smaller budgets than the original.
They talk about it in the Turtles doc a bit. "Let's do it all again, but for less, because we'll make a lot less money on the sequel."

I mean, not like "Superman IV" cheap, but they'd have to be trying to fail to go that far down.

There were several instances. I might get fuzzy with my memory, but Mikey used his chucks against Shredder, and used them to deflect the daggers being flung at them. Raph as well, had tried to use his sais in the his solo fight with Shredder, and used them to block flying blades and poisoned darts. Donny and Leo used their weapons the most. But it's hard to see, because of the shaky cam and the quick edits.

I am still surprised, after the huge hit Jurassic Park was, with the CGI being used for the dinosaurs, and the TMNT being backed by Newline, that they didn't jump on that bandwagon to use TMNT live action with CGI all the way back then. It would have been around 94.

That would'a looked horrible, though. They weren't gonna spend Jurassic Park money on a TMNT movie back then. If anything, it would've looked like some Hercules/Xena sh*t. Just that truly awful early-90s TV CGI, but in a movie. That never would've looked any good. They weren't there yet.

Basically this. TMNT 3 is the kind of the movie that's fun to laugh at, but it's kind of charming in a way. That Angry Nintendo Nerd review of the movie just made me appreciate it even more.

TMNT 2014 is just a bad, boring movie.

Not picking a fight, I just think it's lame to be SO certain of something you haven't even seen. I was CERTAIN that GotG was going to suck. And I loved it.

Regardless, after reading that you hated MOS and TDKR, I'm convinced you don't like anything. I loved MOS, and saw it more times in the theater than any movie ever(this will be broken with TMNT). TDKR is fantastic, and that's coming from someone who's favorite Batman series is Knightfall. But this is all taste in movies, I just have a better understanding of what you hate. I'm guessing you loved Watchmen, Sin City, and 300 because they're just taking page and putting it to screen? Basically you want a moving comic.
