Acceptable. Been saying for years that I think Nerf bats are how I believe the world should solve its problems with each other instead of war. But no adults, just kids. You would finally get several of these people together for this and look at them and it would immediately explain everything. Suddenly you'd see the people you were having conflict with on the Drome forums, laugh, and not care anymore.

But I would laugh my @$$ off at some of these Napolean Dynamites taking their rage out on one another with NERF bats. That would be totally fitting of several people here - even in this thread.

Sir, I said kids only. We put kids to use to solve international squabbles. They gotta be good for something other than annoying strangers in public settings.

"Kid at heart" doesn't count, but maybe those adults can have a charity drive battle during the kid intermission when they're off having snacks and getting their bats taped up.

NJ is more "small front yard/big backyard". We have an acre, pretty nice. Zoe loves it. I live next to a horse farm.

Electric cars have been a thing before the Ukraine-Russia war, but, leave it to this conflict to make the cars popular. Too bad that there won't be an idea pitched out to make the electric cars look like bumper cars or soap box cars since they do resemble kiddy cars to some extent. Maybe l've been seeing the older compact models, but they resemble those Little Tykes cars out on the road.



Anyway, it's cool if you like what you drive. However, inflation prices on gas and crude oil (and everything else) isn't anything new under the sun.

I love the IDEA of electric cars. The ability to charge it up at home. Cleaner energy source.

It's going to be a long time before something like that becomes widespread. There are to many issues that would come with it.

As far as prices go, you know that price is going to transfer somehow. Your electric bill will likely skyrocket. They have to make there money somehow.

Admittedly, I don't know much about cars. What about hybrids? Not completely dependent on either. Using electric for smaller commutes and gas for longer road trips?

You can force the hybrid to use electric for the entire journey if you wish, but the general rule they operate by is that they use electric below a certain speed, and petrol above a certain speed (and the alternator trickle charges the battery during these periods, together with inertial brake charging).

As everything, this is something that's being shoved down everyone's throats by lobbyists. Hydrogen cars also don't produce emissions, can be refilled as quickly as petrol or diesel cars and have similar ranges. Yet, you don't hear much about them for some reason.

If you're looking into buying one, you might want to consider installing solar panels on your roof, otherwise the electricity costs are easily above the costs of a full diesel tank. And if you don't own a house... you might want to reconsider.

Bottom line, my wife and I will be keeping our two Diesel cars for a while.

Because hydrogen is actually quite energy intensive to produce, and as the Hindenburg demonstrated, bloody dangerous under the wrong conditions. I heard something about car technology needed to catch up with the pressures required to store it in sufficient quantities to allow long enough journeys, but that could have been years ago.

Interesting thing - there are instances of some propane motors where the burn is so efficient that the air that comes out of the exhaust is actually cleaner than the air that went into the engine. Crazy.

On that note, last June I bought a DeWalt lawn mower. I have an entire suite of DeWalt tools that run on their very good battery systems, and I got tired of bringing my old gas lawn mower between my properties to cut the grass so a second mower was a "needed convenience".

That battery powered DeWalt was expensive man; but I nickel-and-dimed the price down by..... wait until you hear the irony in this..... converting my Speedway Gas Station points (I had like 135,000 points) into a Home Depot Gift Card along with applying credit card points towards it as well. I think at the end of the day I cut around $200 bucks off the price of the self-propelled model and got it down to $522.77.

That DeWalt mower is awesome. It can cut more than 1/4 acre lot in one charge and I don't walk around sucking up gas mower fumes as I cut. It's also fairly quiet. One of the better tech purchases that I've made.

There is a place for battery power now that we've dipped into the arena where battery tech lasts long enough to have true utility.

I think we have a DeWalt electric mower. It mows about... 85% of the yard before needing a charge.

Yeah, I don't know much about the tech... but I'd imagine getting in a collision with a hydrogen-powered car (whether it's the other car or it's you driving it) could be pretty bad.

I’m no greenie, but I confess I do love my Super73 S1 e-bike that I bought last year. Perfect for getting around town if the weather isn’t too bad. Expensive and I may look a little dorky, but I’m saving a assload on gas. Would be interested in the AWD plug in Ford Maverick that’s supposed to come out soon if I could afford it.

This is a cultural question I guess but are bicycles considered dorky or uncool in parts of the US? I saw George Carlin mention this once in a bit and was confused as hell.

I suppose “dorky” is the wrong word for it. I’m being a little self deprecating. It looks different from other bicycles, more like a motorcycle . When I saw it at Scheels Sports it, it’s Army green color reminded me of the Harley Davidsons in the European Theater that USGIs would use in the documentaries I’ve seen. People tell me it’s cool.

It’s great for going around town, especially to bars and back. It’s gonna suck when winter sets in. I just wish it had suspension like the newer S2 models.
