Being "the best part" of a $#!(fest of a movie isn't really a victory. Besides, even if that were true it affects nothing about the ongoing horrible casting of Bison on film.

Last year I watched the original SF movie for the third time in my life, as a kid I thought it was weird and didn't think about it again, as a teenager I thought it was amazing in a campy way and now as an adult I see it as neither horrible or great, it's interesting in how some of their odd choices worked and others didn't.

I also watched The Legend of Chun-Li for the second time in my life. First time as a teenager I thought it was bad, now as an adult I thought it was bad. The thing is it plays itself like a serious movie and it's just awful. At least the Van Damme movie has self aware moments that worked.

I am surprised how both movies actually have a bunch of easter eggs from the games either through dialogue or subtle scenes. But for a better debate. Street Fighter II The Animated movie, which soundtrack is better, Japanese or American?
I feel I'm biased since I watched the american soundtrack so many times it's weird to hear the japanese one, but it's just so much better.

Nothing, absolutely nothing beats KMFDM ripping through the speakers while Chun-Li truly fights for her life against Vega in the apartment.

It reminds me of the Kung Fury short films. Silly nostalgia that doesn’t take itself too seriously. And who are we to judge? This is a Ninja Turtles forum after all.

Fair enough. But there have been plenty of actors that have been jacked up on “rice and tuna” for their roles. Charisma goes a long way too. It’s hard to tell from what little we see in the trailer due to the lighting, but I’ll rewatch it and tell you what I think of it…

On Tuesday.

I guess he doesn't qualify as African American to cubed because he doesn't say things like "yessa massa", "sup dawg", "yo", "kill whitey" and "shee-it negro!"

What I don't understand is how they can make bangers like "American Ninja", "Bloodsport", and "Big Trouble in Little China" in the 80's, yet they can't figure out how to meld the sensibilities of those into a Street Fighter live action movie.

Honestly? This looks great. Stupid fun, what else would you want from a videogame adaptation?

I never realized this was going to be a period piece set in the 90s. That gives it a little extra charm, I guess.

I've only seen a few trailers, and this does look like fun. I love the 94 live-action Street Fighter movie a whole lot and it's one of my favorite movies of all time due to how 66 Batman-esque and cartoony it is (the SFII games were always more in the cartoony spectrum for me with all the colorful characters and some of the silly stuff like the animation when a character is dizzy, whereas Mortal Kombat had a more realistic look, which is why I like more tongue-in-cheek for SF rather than extremely serious), and I dunno if the new one will surpass it, but it certainly feels miles ahead of some of the anime SF stuff (the pre-SFIV anime movies just felt way too draggy for me, animation may have been good for at least one of them, but I was just bored by it all) and Legend of Chun Li (which is an example as to why an 'extremely serious and dark' SF thing doesn't work IMO). I'm still cautious about it, but it doesn't look bad so far.

Anyone watch it? I'm seeing a lot of "Worst movie I've ever seen" kind of comments around the internet.

I've actually been seeing the opposite comments, it seems like a basic plot movie with fun scenes and references, a popcorn movie, nothing more nothing less. Which is why the divided opinions.

It's a lot of fun and keeps a lot of the more modern day lore, something the original movie couldn't do since back then the only lore was the game endings and SNES instruction books.

The worst portrayed characters were Dhalsim (sassy bitch), Guile (Cody Rhodes playing Cody Rhodes) and Bison... especially Bison.

50 Cent WAS Balrog/Mike Tyson. Roman killed it as Akuma. Chun Li was great but could done without the thirsy co-worker.

Pretty sure there was extensive Street Fighter manga by then in Japan, no?

Yeah but a lot of it was random stuff other than the usual 'Bison is evil, Chun Li and Guile hate him' stuff. Like in the old manga it dealt with Bison experimenting with some new drug, and in that take Charlie was the one it was tested it on which caused his death. I believe in that version Ryu was friends with some kids that worked in a restaurant.

Then the animated movie was out and that would eventually add to the lore of the future games.

And ugh... those Malibu comics.

I like the movie, though it does feel like the middle of a story like the 2nd movie in a trilogy. Too bad the movie is doing bad, really would have liked a sequel.

Street Fighter definitely wasn't as dumb as some have been saying, I thought the plot was pretty compelling, and even the dumbest moments earned earnest pay offs

Spoiler:
Also very refreshing to see Bison and his team win, brave and confident choice.
