No but I could seem them playing it out like that and leaving him for dead or something and Shredder finds him and dresses him up in some of his old getup's and then Mikey comes up with the stupid re-name.

Its like when Robin became Nightwing, everyone accepted his name change and it was fine
Because there is no bloody need for him to change his name.
He is a new character and is fine the way he is.
And that's a a bad comparison because you're saying a long time beloved character changed his name to something else not the other way around.

Why do they call Chris Bradford, "Dogpound," after mutation then? They could have simply kept the Chris Bradford name.

Because Mikey named him that not necessarily because he was evil, but because it fit him. He's a dog and he pounded them into the ground, hence the name. Spike does not need a name change necessarily, and I certainly wouldn't want him to be Slash. You just want him to be called that so that a character you like is added to the show. I truly hope that doesn't happen because it would just be stupid.

There's no reason to mutate Spike then, let him stay as a normal turtle.

That's what the turtles call him. More as an insult than anything. Completely different.

Still don't get the whole "character realizes he's evil now and changes his name" thing. How does one realize that they're evil all of a sudden?

EDIT: On the Batman thing. This reminds me of why I hated the whole 'twist' at the end of Rises. Here's this character that has nothing to do with anything and is completely original and then in the last 2 minutes it's like "HEY IT'S THE NAME OF A FAMOUS CHARACTER! THIS COUNTS NOW."

Why did Jack Napier change his name to The Joker? Why did Edward Nigma start calling himself, The Riddler?

Villains change their names.

Jack Napier? Really? Probably wanna learn alittle about Batman before you try using it to strengthen your argument.

They're both psychopaths. Human psychopaths that had lives at some point. Nigma had the alter ego/secret identity thing at first. Completely different.

It is possible that he is named Slash before they realise that it is a mutated version of Spike.

I'm pretty sure you lack the ability to grasp the very concept you're arguing.

You're comparing TMNT villains to Batman villains. Apples to oranges.

I don't think an mutant turtle will don an alter ego for his crime spree.

Besides, if Spike mutates he must look like a Billy Idol turtle

What about Splinter and Shredder? They took on new names for what they like I be called. Otherwise we'd still be calling them Yoshi and Saki.

Let alone I bet you Dogpound will start referring to himself by that name and stop calling himself Bradford. Same with Fishface.

Dude, Splinter and Shredder probably had those code names when they were in the war or something. It makes sense in a way. It wasn't because they just wanted to be called those names. They were called those names for a reason. Geez, why do you have to be so damn stupid?

If you need this explained to you, you're just never going to get it.

That's speculation. We still need confirmation why Yoshi decided to call himself Splinter.

In the OT it was the Turtles who nicknamed him Splinter, in the IDW comics it was Chet, but here we don't know why yet.

Code names or alter egos don't equal a name change. It's an alias. Bradford is still Bradford, he uses the codename Dogpound. Splinter is still Yoshi, he just goes by Splinter.

Spike is just the guys name. Same with Slash. The only reason to use the "Slash" code name is to appease fanboys. Slash was Slash's name....not a code name, not an alias, not a villainous alter ego. Just who he is.

Slash is too popular for him not to be used as seen in the IDW comic. And Playmates loves him so if a toy is lined up he is a shoe in. Slash being rereleased in 2009 says a lot.

Something you need to consider is that the two series' exist to make up for eachothers losses. Characters we won't see in the show will likely be in the comic, & vice verse. To expect one just because they're in the other is ridiculous, they're completely separate universes with a totally different goal. The Nick show has plenty of easter eggs but at the end of the day, they have children in mind. Kids don't know about obscure pre-established characters. IDW has us adults in mind, and are sensitive to our needs.
