This isn't precisely about the costume... I just thought these were so stupidly hilarious in subject matter that I should post them.

Spidey inside his cocoon...

Spidey emerging from his cocoon...

Is it just me, or does there seem to be some kinda werid fetish a lotta people have with putting humans in fetal positions? I guess it makes certain people happy...

One thing I WILL say, tho -- Mike Deodato is a great artist -- one of the best ASM has had in a long time; the beautiful work he has done for ASM has been one of the few saving graces for this... you know.

Soon there will be a string of gas stations, inexpensive motels, restaurants that serve rapidly prepared food! Tire salons, automobile dealerships and wonderful, wonderful billboards reaching as far as the eye can see! My God... It'll be beautiful.

Honestly, I don't give a crap about the comic industry and such anymore. Why? Because they are hell bent on doing stuff like this. THey know the buisness is dying in its current form so they do whack-ass stuff like this to get attention.

Ultimate Spiderman style ruled. This is sh*t and done for the sole purpose of attention....which is about the only thing they're getting. As far as I'm concerned, they ruined him.

Ok...now where's his butterfly wings???

Seriously...since when do spiders come from cacoons??? The closest thing would be an egg sack.

I love the expression when he comes out of his pupae(?). He's looking at his hands like "WTF?! Why am I in this goo?!"

Im gonna get this comic...just for the nude Peter Parker. *G*

Check this out...Marvel editor in chief Joe Quesada drew it and it was inked by Richard Isanove.

It's a poster from the Other saga....based on Leonardo Da Vinci's Vetruvian man (which I have as an italian charm on my italian charm bracelet). It's... Vetruvian Spider-man!

Ok..now the original Vetruvian man had cryptic words around it...Vetruvian Spidey does as well. Here's the translation. It fits rather well with what we're all feeling.

TOP:
Requiescat in pace - Rest in peace / Acta est fabula - The play is over / Obesa cantavit - The fat lady has sung / Omnia mors aequat - Death equals all things / Mors ultima linea rerum est - Death is everything's final limit / Nil desperandum! - Never despair! / Non omnis moriar - Not all of me will die / Id imperfectum manet dum confectum erit - It ain't over until it's over / Omnia mutantur, nihil interit - Everything changes, nothing perishes / In dentibus anticis frustrum magnum spiniciae habes - You have a big piece of spinach in your front teeth

BOTTOM
Quesada Isavove
Dum spiro, spero - While I breathe, I hope / Natura nihil fit in frustra - Nature does nothing in vain
Respice post te, mortalem te esse memento - Look around you, remember that you are mortal / Aegroto, dum anima est, spes esse dicitur - It is said that for a sick man, there is hope as long as there is life / Dum tempus habemus, operemur bonum - While we have the time, let us do good / Frangar non flectar - I am broken, I am not deflected / Quid quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur - Anything said in Latin sounds profound / Fac ut vivas - Get a life / Quam terribilis est haec hora - How fearful is this hour / A fronte praecipitium a tergo lupi - A precipice in front, wolves behind / Perfer et obdura; dolor hic tibi proderit olim - Be patient and tough; some day this pain will be useful to you / Forsan miseros meliora sequentur - For those in misery perhaps better things will follow / Non mortem timemus, sed cogitationem mortis - We do not fear death, but the thought of death / Post tenebras lux - After the darkness, light / Nonne de novo eboraco venis? - You're from New York, aren't you? / Raptus regaliter - Royally screwed

My fave portions are:
In dentibus anticis frustrum magnum spiniciae habes - You have a big piece of spinach in your front teeth

Quid quid latine dictum sit, altum videtur - Anything said in Latin sounds profound

Fac ut vivas - Get a life

Nonne de novo eboraco venis? - You're from New York, aren't you?

Raptus regaliter - Royally screwed

Talking about editing costumes, I thought it might be a neat idea to see my edits "in action". So here we go.

Edits 1 and 2.

And to finish it off, the crowdpleasing Venom-edit.

Note: I didn't change the colours of those atrocious spider-legs, because they're organic and so they are a part of Spidey like his hair or something. And no, I don't like them... at all.

Ok...I've been thinking.... in the current saga (the Other) the spider within Peter and Tony Stark all state "Once in its lifetime a spider sheds (molts) its skin"

Oh really? Well I know from experience of having pet tarantulas that this sure as shell aint true! Spiders shed or rather molt multiple times!

From Wikipedia:
It enters the larval stage as a prelarva and, through subsequent molts, it reaches its larval form, a spider-looking, non self-sufficient animal feeding off its yolk supply (Foelix, 1996). After a few more molts, also called instars, body structures become differentiated.

About molting (shedding):
he exoskeleton of an arachnid is hard. This does not allow for growth. To overcome this problem, spiders will shed their old exoskeletons, allowing a new and larger one to replace it. The new larger exoskeleton fits underneath the old one, because it is still elastic. A layer of fluid separates the new and old skeletons. As the old skeleton is shed, the new one will expand to its full size, before hardening out on contact with air. The arachnid will have to flex its new exoskeleton, or it will become inflexible and less mobile until its next molt. Other reasons for molting are damaged tissue and missing limbs. Over a series of molts, a missing limb can be regenerated, the stump being a little larger with each molt until it is of normal size again. After molting, the exoskeleton is still delicate and the arachnid is vulnerable to predators or even its own prey.

Somebody at marvel needs to do some more research on arachnids.

the venom colors, once again, look best -- then again, this design isn't the most original... that reminds me:

So, that's where we get our spider-legs from. Mattie Franklin, Spider-Woman.

Not a thing original about this stupid new costume...

Well, if you had other suggestions about the coloouring of the new costume, let me know. I've got plenty of time to play around with that image.

And I thought I knew the spider-legs from somewhere... now I know wherefrom. Anyhow, couldn't they have given Spidey four spider-legs? You know, spiders have eight legs and all that...

You know, as a matter of fact... I think that second coloring job you did would have been great, if maybe the blue weren't so intense -- if you could make it more of an pewter/ultramarine than sprite sky blue, and likewise a not-so flashy red (more like blood red), it would look a little... richer, I guess.

You know, I went back to the original colours, which were plain red and plain blue. None of that Ultramarine-stuff (hell, I didn't even know that colour existed up to now), but as I promised, here you go. Edit #2.1.

For my taste, that's too dark. I'd prefer Edit #2, because it's more like Spidey and not some dark/gloomy character.

EDIT: And if you find other pictures of new Spidey, then show them here. I might or might not edit them. Besides, I want to see more of his new look.

not darker colors, richer. Ultramarine/pewter color... it's sort of hard to describe. Would that be navy blue? Kind of a grayer blue and not so intense. It doesn't have to be a dark color, just a different color.

Crud. When I find the colors, I'll show em to you.

And I think these are the only pictures anyone has of the new suit... I don't think the issue featuring the new suit has come out yet.

Okay, then I officially don't know what the heck ultramarine and/or pewter is.

Let's do it like this: If any of you wants an extraordinary colour, then make sure to include a sample of the colours you wish to see. I will then take the colours from that image.

I thought so. But should you come across any new pictures then make sure to show me, okay?
