It really is. He's very much Peter Laird's Q&A buffer from 'the hordes'.

Haha! I love it, "the hordes"! Beware the TMNT Hordes, for nothing can quench their thirst for all things turtle-ish.

It's true though, we're totally a horde...possibly even a horde and a half by now. I emailed him about the most bizarre thing a few months ago...how many people can honestly say they've received an email inquiring if Nathaniel Buscheyev is purely symbolic or someone in particular?

Well, I'm not one of them. I don't even know who Nathaniel Buscheyev is...

He's the old man recovering in the "City At War" arc, I believe...

So, I decided to go to the source.

Well, there's the official answer from our very own Donatello, via ninjaturtles.com.

I gotta admit, it was fun to see "Don" in my inbox! Thank you, professor D!

(I redacted my name.)

I usually call him Don or "Donny" for short, because it refers better to males better than "Donnie" which is more female-fitting.

I prefer Donnie.

Which I find kinda weird considering my name can be either "Y" or "ie" and it's spelt with a Y. And I always get ragin' if people spell it "ie".

Anyhoo, back on topic. "Donnie" just looks better I think.

I always thought of it as "Donnie," but I never associated the "ie" with Donatello being gay...

Thank you Neutrino, that is extremely helpful. *nods*

To me, it's Donnie . Thats how it should be! And just because he wears purple doesn't mean he's gay! Purple can symbolise intuition and spiritual protection, or royalty. Now bright purple, thats gay.
