My thoughts on this:
Leonardo has Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder due to the defeat. This is also known as shell shock- hence the shell injury is not just literal, but also metaphoric. His personality makes him be very idealistic and hard on himself. He is now disintegrating and going into his shadow due to the turmoil. He becomes obsessed with protecting his family- part of this is due to his being the leader. He feels he could have done more- even though he did his best. It is not something that goes away on its own. It is not something that goes away magically by helping and serving others. Even Usagi talking to him would not magically solve it. He had to go away and be able to get the treatment and healing. Hence Splinter got him to spar to show him how his anger and obsession was being counterproductive. And when Leo lost control of his katanas and injured Splinter accidentally (yes, I read the episode thread about this and could tell there was consensus), he was able to see that he was hurting others more than helping. Splinter could have easily beaten the shell out of Leo, but he wanted it to allow it to happen so that Leo could realize it firsthand how much it was hurting him (not to mention others). It was not just angst. It was not just anger. It was not just being hard on himself- though all those things were present. It was a serious psychiatric injury that he cannot just "snap out of". They DID drag it out a bit too much. It would have been better to have just "Cousin Sid", perhaps two more episodes, then "Samurai Tourist" and then "The Ancient One". It would have still been effective. But a healed Leo would have worked better for some of the other episodes. I wish everyone would stop being so hard on Leo. I am glad Leo returned to being the leader in the Ninja Tribunal season. That he was not demoted- much less kicked out of the family. Donatello did a good job in being leader when Leonardo was not available, but Donatello's greatest strength is not in leadership. That his father and brothers do not love him any less than before. That he will still be included, still will be taught new things, and will still be a member of the family and team.

No, that's what I meant. If he had seen that she rescued him, he would have seen that his trust in her wasn't completely wrong and that she does have honor. But he didn't, so he only knows of her siding with the Shredder.

Well, even if he had seen it; after what she tried to do to them next time she met them ("Scion of the Shredder" & "Prodigal Son"), I don't think it really would've mattered anyway. Because right then and there she proved once and for all she couldn't be trusted.

The end of FAST FORWARD, yes. But, what makes you so sure they won't go home in that ep? I demand evidence!

Kind of figured the darn thing would'nt get that far. They had a second season in mind, so obviously they wouldnt go back and change an episode on the fly once it was finished and edited, they were confident they would get another season of this, and it did'nt turn out that way.
"Day of Awakening" is the true finale of this season of FF, "Zixth Sense" is obviously an episode produced last, but should have aired earlier. |

There were supposed to be 10 more episodes of FF after this batch. It was at the end of these episodes that the guys would return home. However, production of those episodes was canceled in favor of the brand new series that will start in 2008. Thus, as it stands now, FF has no conclusion. If we get any conclusion on the series at all it will be with the first episode of the new series next year.
Thanks for the link, BTW.

As much as I hated FF at times, it's sad to see it end and feel so uncompleted.

What I find interesting is how insanely violent "Day of Awakening" was. Yeah, we had some major development when Serling bit the dust and was "reborn", but Sh'Okanabo's death was very much an old school TMNT death. Batting a grenade in his mouth? How'd that get past the censors?

Yeah, Viral getting dispersed, by Cody of all people, was badass. Made Cody look more like Casey even more.
Definatley one of the more redeeming episodes, of course it was Steve Murphy who wrote it. Honestly, I think he was the only one left from the writing team behind the best seasons of the series (four and TLS) working on FF. Too bad Marvel snagged Christopher Yost But that was'nt a major villain being killed off, that was a one-off threat |
