Yea! TMNT is back with new episodes finally.

This was a decent transition ep, not much more. But it's good to have the guys back home and the return of Shredder in some form. The best part was when Splinter sacrificed himself. Sniff. Donny thinks it's his fault and Raph just barely kept himself from crying. Also good to see Mike take the initiative to send the back close to their own time. What the did with the theme songs worked well. I still hate that Serling is around though, he was one of the most annoying things about FF.

Er, well. I've been out of the loop since somewhere in the middle of the FF season... it was getting a bit too weird for me, hee. So, saw this ep... um... wait. Three questions.
1. Ch'rell is a popsicle, and I don't get why the heck they'd bring him back. Somehow, I think there's more to it than that...
2. Where the heck is Karai?? Of course, if that is Ch'rell, there would definitely be complications in her life...
3. Splinter. They didn't. Did they? Would they?

Um, wow. Different style, again, and look, pupils! It works. And yay Mikey being in good form! Someday I'll go back and watch the rest of FF. Don't want to be too far behind on things. (Serling, Turtle X mode? Yes, I missed something, heh.)

Edit: Okay, four questions. 4. Why on earth... are there three of them? There shouldn't be any of them. And they all have that voice... something very creepy is going on here. Or have I missed something significant from FF...?

You know... I had time to sink this episode in, and I have some thoughts.

First off, while I liked the episode, and it did feel a SLIGHT bit like seasons 1-5, I couldn't help but feel like this season was going to feel rushed like most of the episodes in season 6.

What I mean is, the Turtles will be fighting, and fighting, and fighting, and never slow down, like they did in the heat of things in seasons 1-5.

I will give this time, as there is still 12 episodes left.

To the person who said my scenario doesn't sound right... I'm still calling it.

CYBER SHREDDER IS CHRELL!!! Virals mind and body was probably transformed into Chrell, and if not, then the very essense of what makes a "Shredder." Sort of like carrying the mantle, as it were.

However I bet this is a means to keep Chrell off that ice asteroid. Maybe Karai isn't the Turtles enemy due to him being around, who knows.

I'm just getting the feeling that what happened to Viral, was the result of what happened to the Shredder in Timing is Everything.

You say Shredder wouldn't put 2 and 2 together, but you forget, this isn't the old toon, as this Shredder was always smart. The Shredder was never even really beaten by the Turtles, always someone else (ie Splinter, an explosion, Zog, Utroms, Yoshi,) except for one swipe of a sword by Leo (RTNY,) and one kick by Raph to send him back to the past (TIE)

We'll see though.

We never saw Ch'rell die or turn to a popsicle, you just ASSUMED that

It's very likely Ch'rell used the technology he aqquired in "Timing Is Everything to develop the Cyber-Shredder programe in case he was exiled or killed. One theory however is that, whilst this programe was set up, Ch'rell is rescued from Mor-Tal by a nearby Triceraton fleet, and now he's returned to Earth.

The apperance of the Tengu Shredder however also presents the possibility that the last three seasons simply didnt happen the way they originally occured in an unaltered past. In which case, Ch'rell never left Earth at all, Karai never became bitter and became The Shredder (though she still likely fell for Chaplin around this point), and Ch'rell proved to be a formidabble challenge for the Tengu Shredder when he was ressurected and held his conquest of Earth back by years.

That, or the Mystics simply revived The Tengu Shredder somehow.

Ch'rell's return can easily be explained, The Tengu Shredder's involvement is the true mystery

The "goodbye" thing was stale and abrupt.

Hopefully they make an episode like "Epilouge" from Justice League Unlimited were they wrap up Cody's story/battle.

ANYWAYS, I know of a simple way to explain Cyber Shredder without using any time travel bull (as we have enough of that already). Two word: Chr'ell's Exosuit. He has the thing configured just the way he wants it, so why wouldn't he keep a backup of the configuration for when his current suit gets old/destoryed/etc.? That said, the data should contain voice, movement, weight of armor, etc. All of this so it functions correctly. That said, Viral just downloaded it without realizing it would override her physical form making her half Viral and half Shredder. I could be wrong, but I hope I'm right just beacause their already screwing around with time, let's not make it worse. Savvy?

They were actually very good about keeping Mikey and Serling jokes to a minimum this episode. And what ones they had were well placed.

For some reason I was optimistic about this season despite the strange cyber-world plot line, I guess I was right to be. The near future tease was easily the best part of the episode and it seems like a good indication that there's going to be a stronger story arc than FF ever had.

I'm especially intrigued by this new Shredder. I wonder how the fusion of the two identities will work.

My only worry is about how they're going to handle everything going on this season. I mean there's a new Shredder, April's Landlord, Hun, and the return of the old Shredders too. Not to mention the rest of the returning characters this season. There's a lot of ground to cover.

The new character designs, particularly the visible pupils, don't bother me at all now that I've seen them in action. In fact, I like how the Turtles are now more expressive.

I think the only thing about the episode that bothered me was that, after they finally returned to the Lair, they all just walked away from Serling to go mourn. Like they completely forgot that Viral was inside him ten seconds ago. Yeah, Splinter's been disintegrated...but the person who balsted him is RIGHT BEHIND YOU. Teenage attention spans.

A shame that Darius and the Dark Turtles weren't referenced in any way. I hope their thread gets tied up at some point and not just left hanging. I mean, Cody's all alone in the future with no one to help him fight off a group of foes that want him dead. That's...kinda important.

The Shredder War reasonably whet my whistle and I'm looking forward to seeing how that comes to be. I guess Laird has finally renedged on his vow to never bring back the Utrom Shredder. It was only a matter of time.

Anyhow, the season has potential. Here's hoping it reaches it.

It isn't Ch'rell it is Viral, her body was taken over by another file but it's still her under there or did you not see her body bubble up and morph into what is now Cyber Shredder. It's just a Shredder file Planted inside her.
This is why Viral shouldn't have unprotected hook-ups haha, look turtles are teaching kids things again.

I wouldn't mind another Turtle Titan episode. They are awesome!

Also, Mikey did look galavant as a knight in shining armor in today's episode.

Wonder if Raph will drive another motorcycle like he did on the past 3 series (Next Mutation, 2K3 & Fast Forward)? It would be 4 in a row (or as bowlers would call it, a HAMBONE!).

Cody has Starlee...and a lot of free sheets during the off-hours. Just watch the darn fanfiction pile up on that one

I've checked the episode credits, and it's a fresh guy who wrote the script, Eric Basart (surprising that a first-time writer gets to write the premiere), so the plot holes really could be attested to inexperiance

What technology? The guy arrived, fought, and left, all in a span of ten minutes. How, pray tell, would he or any of his ninjas (who never actually made it back) have the chance to inspect, let alone procure, any technology without getting their asses kicked tend days till Tuesday?

This is more plausible, although I'm not sure, all that would be necessary; aren't the exo-suits more mechanical than anything? I don't recall anything indicating that it needs a program to run. Not only that, I don't see why a program like that would need to have the Shredder's personality encoded, which seems to be the case here. Still, of the theories I've heard so far, this one is my favorite.
