I have plans, nothing like what has been done with them before and it all spins directly out of this issue and what's coming in #64, but ultimately it all hinges on what happens next year. Just let the dudes at Mirage know you dug it and that you want more

I really liked this issue and all the references to the DCU. Altho Leonardo's email address of [email protected] seems more like it would be Donatello's. And Don playing Guitar Hero was also a bit odd. I picture that as more Mikey's game.

But other then that... great work Tristan.

I thought the issue was aces. High-quality, all the way through.

MAYBE a bit convuluted (or "easy") in one or two places. Like the line from "Scarface" took me right out of the story. And I definitely didn't buy it.

But other than that, I thought this was by FAR the best issue of the THJ canon . It felt, at least to me, at least in some ways, like a very, very successful "reimagining" of the very first issue of Vol. 1. Maybe that's why I liked it so much .

Tanks mang!

Is convoluted the right word? Inappropriate seems more... appropriate I guess! What was the other bit (I MUST KNOW!!)?

Also interested in why you picked Volume 1 #1... to be honest it was about the furthest away from what I had in mind and as reference as a Charlie Brown book!

Shoo don' even know me, mang!

And, you're welcome.

www.dictionary.com suggests that "convoluted" WAS the wrong word.

Pretty sure the word I was going for was "contrived." My bad, dawg.

As far as the other bit that bugged me, maybe it was the Raphael "License and registration" panel. As I feel I've seen that many, many, MANY times before.

And while I know, "If it ain't broke..." I'll give the ish a reread, then tell you for sure.

As for why it reminded me so much of Vol. 1 #1, I guess I would say the pacing, the way it was framed? Hard to explain w / o the actual comic in front of me. There was a panel, I remember, where they drop back into the sewers (that I LOVED), and it reminded me very much of that first issue where they "strike hard, and fade away... into the night."

But, maybe that's just me.

Maybe... Unfortunately, I'm not exactly certain you're gonna be able to find out either way now.

How have sales of Tales been lately, will it at least make it to May 2010?

I'm fairly certain it will run until at least #70. I know Dan and Jake definitely have stories ready for next year.

I was wondering how long it'd take for someone to mention that...

Sometimes it takes a second, closer examination on things, but I can normally pick things out like this pretty easily

I love when you sneak things in there like that. Very clever of you.

Issue was awesome. Loved it. Story was brilliant, art direction was awesome. God, this is the sort of stuff TMNT should've stuck with rather than that sci-fi s*** we've been reading.

The only thing that bothers me though is Guitar Hero and Michael Bay's s***tiness being recognizable during a timeline that's a year after City At War, which I think takes place during the early 90s. But then again, I think the only thing I could recall with an actual date in the TMNT timeline is issue 11 (Vol. 1).

Yeah... they gotta watch that.. Next thing we'll know we'll see that Splinter was playing a Nintendo Wii a day before the TMNT went out to take down Shredder...

And Leonardo had an email address too...and the reporter had a camera phone issue before that. Tech is different in the Mirage universe....*lol*

Ug, this has come up before, especially with Tristan's issues. I know he's said he likes placing the Turtles in whenever "now" is, not tying them down to any specific era.

I'd be cool with that, if it weren't for the fact that the series already has some very distinct time markers. The Turtles kill Shredder in 1984, Utroms reveal themselves in 2002, etc. It's about the Turtles' lives beginning in 1984 and following them through all the way through to old age, and that should be respected.

Not like there aren't already some glaring errors with this. "City at War" is a prime example. According to the story, and comments from Eastman and Laird, it takes place no more than two years after Shredder's first death, and the events of the story itself take several months. That places its conclusion at...what, 1987 at the very latest? But it contains allusions to the Gulf War all over the place. Oops.

So, yeah, not perfect. But if I have to nitpick I'd still like to see cell phones and modern pop-culture references stay out of stories set over a decade ago.

Or...Utroms did it. I guess that's cool too.

It's happened in other issues too. I really don't care since I don't splice Tales issues in with the old Mirage stories as I read them, I always read them seperately. But I'm cool with it since it's done for the sake of (good) humor, and not just mindless bubble fillings.

Don. Leo gave Miller an e-mail address to send the info to Don. It's Don's address. The address should have given it away.
