Tales of the TMNT 61

Wow!! Issue 60 last week and 61 today!! That is something I will not let myself get used to!!
I thought the best part of this issue was the Ducktales reference! I thought I was the only one who still used that!

Apparently it did come out. I was a little surprised when the official site put it up as "Available Now" this week.

I literally just got back from the comic shop, where I bought #60. I did not see #61.

Funny, my comic shop got Tales #59 two-three weeks late, but #61 came in today no problem. Funny stuff.

It's a nice issue. The best part is the art, as Ponce draws some of his best Turtles to date. Very cool to see the mousers again, even if they didn't get to feature in that many pages.

Loved it. And Tristan's storytelling with Ponce's art was a great marriage. Beautiful book.

"I'm not Oracle!" heheh, great stuff.

Little confused with the beheading of the villain (who is a fine addition to the gallery, btw)... did Leo cut his head off in-between panels? Looking at the pages panel-by-panel I'm not sure where/how... and then he's laying there headless.

Yeah, Guitar Hero, Batman/Oracle/The Killing Joke, and Ducktales references. Those were very funny. Donatello has mellowed out quite a bit since his "City at War" trauma.

Bear in mind this is my cleaned up edit of the language. Splinter needs to wipe out those turtles' mouths with soap (and Razorback too while he's at it).

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the great feedback so far! I was also extremely surprised (and pleased) to find this waiting for me at my local comic shop last night, but I was told they were delivered all the issues for the standing orders, and the rest for the shelves would be hitting next week.

Dan originally told me that it was supposed to ship on the week of the 24th.

Oh, Andrew -- yeah, his head comes off in the accident. I had to scale back a bit and removed the gory mangling to make it fit the 30 pages.

Ah. I didn't necessarily want/need to see it happen, it just seemed a little iffy how it happened.

In any case, brilliant work!

Thanks mate! Glad you dug it.

The whole thing was actually centered on an accident a friend and I were involved in (that I was a few too many cars back from to see properly but he wasn't), where there was a huge crash on an intersection, the impact of which tore a guy's head off.

Yeah, pretty obvious.

On a different point... now, I have a couple theories, but what was up with the Baxter cyborg suit?
