Raphael's before this series were pretty good in their respective series, but this one has a different aspect about it.

I think he needs to throw a bone of kindness to his bros more often, for sure.

I mean, he displays more tender moments with his pet turtle, but it would be great to see him extend himself in this way towards his family.

Yeah! Michelangelo frequently comes with smart solutions to difficult situation when he needs to, both in the ot and 2k3 series.

Didn't he have a warm fuzzy moment with Mikey in one episode.

Possibly one moment

I'm not saying every episode should end with a hug, but I like when Raph keeps Mikey in line rather than puts him down - or a bit more balance between the two, anyway.

People are making too much of a deal of this I think. I have no problems with this new Raph, I don't think he's that offensive. He's not being portrayed as a deeply dark character, he's still very much an up and beat person who uses comedy as a defense mechanism. The reason why he shows off the way he does is because he's a frustrated teenager. He and his brothers are considered freaks of nature, they live in the sewers hiding from the above world whose habitants they are supposed to protect, but when they do people get scared. Add to that he's always in Leo's shadow, the second best, something he's finding hard to accept. He struggles with himself and his origins, and that's an aspect I've always found interesting with Raph in all his incarnations. He shows off because it's his way to stand up for himself, being sarcastic and a bit threatening. We can all see he has a soft side as well when he pets Spike. He fills his part of the group just like the others do, it adds to the dynamic and I've got not problems with it.

I do not share your feelings on raph but I do feel he is being shorted. Don and Mikey are stealing all the scenes. Raph just gets to play the brute. I would like to see them do more with him.

I love this incarnation of Raph. Yeah, he picks on his brothers, but that's what siblings do. He has shown softer moments in the series as well such as when he comforts Mikey after the Chris Bradford fiasco and when he's with Spike. So, he's not a total a**hole.

Raph also quoted Space Heroes to Leonardo, acknowledging him as his leader, when Leo was having a panic attack. That's two. He also protected Don and Mikey from getting sprayed by Baxter's isotopes spray. That's three. And he threatened Leatherhead, a croc that just rolled on him a couple of scenes ago, to keep his distance away from Mikey. Four.

Seriously, Raph had his moments.

And I was never a fan of Raphael in every incarnation. 2K12 version is actually where I find myself liking him.

I'm glad you can count. I am merely agreeing with the fact this version of Raph can be a little obnoxious, but which one isn't? My personal opinion is that Raphael's character is best when he can show some affability towards his brothers outside of a life/death situation. Again, it need not be overly saccharine or often, but those are the moments make the rough edges more sharp.

2012 Raph is my favorite version by a long shot. I don't find him offensive in any way. He's blunt, sarcastic, and snarky. Nothing wrong with that. As for hitting his brothers; Mikey is annoying enough at times to warrant it, Don to a lesser extent.

I never was much of a fan of Raphael, but I love him in the Nick series and he's actually humorous for once. Points for no Brooklyn accent as well.

He's an Alpha male type, people are like that and its definitely common amongst teenagers. I'm sure that'll change with him with age (random thought, I wonder if they'll update the character models down the line so they start to look older). And he definitely has his sweeter or more caring moments as well as his dumb and off moments like the others. It's just all kept in line with his personality.

I feel like this Raph is the young version of the 2K3 series. He's hot tempered and sarcastic and tends to "WAP" Mikey across the head. Mikey is usually my fav. turtle with Raph being my 2nd favorite but seeing how they really dumbed down Mikey from his 2K3 and OT predecessors , Raph is my favorite turtle for the Nick series.

If anything this Raph does feel like a 2-3 year younger version of the 4kids Raph from season 1.

This is probably my favourite version of Raph.

But I could do without all this Leo vs Raph stuff being rehashed again. We already know how it ends, it's not like this time around it will be resolved by Raph launching a bloody coup against Leo or Leo saying "actually, yeah, let's start killing people."

We're probably not going to see them age much. Keep in mind this is a cartoon we're talking about here. Hell, look at the more adult oriented cartoons on Fox. None of those characters ever age either. Stewie Griffin will still be wearing diapers when our grandkids are in college.

I could see them doing a time skip after like 3 seasons or something. Just to age April up to 18 and show the Turtles a little older.
