If IDW wants to expand Krang's backstory, seeing Berserko and Shreeka would be interesting. Berserko helped design the Technodrome and Krang/Shreeka were partners as Dimension X warlords.

I don't know. I actually like Radical and Carnage a lot, and feel they were hugely underused in Mirage. Radical was interesting, again, for how she fit into the animism/spiritualism guys like Murphy pumped into the Mirage and Archie series regularly, and I always thought Carnage was really fun. He has a terrifying superpower but is often too bumbling to succeed. I don't know; they both feel pretty unique and are the kinds of characters I'd be happy to see fill out the Turtles' sidelines in any universe.

I'd rather see them again than Savanti and Rennet again, actually. I also like them, but what they do to any universe they're in is ... problematic.

As for fast forward characters I didn't watch much of it but what I did see was horrible, that and next mutation are some of the lowest points in TMNT history and imo are better off ignored.
Being a bad series doesn't mean every idea put forth is worthless. If future incarnations of the Turtles are going to draw from their past, you might as well consider everything viable.

Also, while I don't recommend going back to Next Mutation, I'd really encourage giving Fast Forward a full watch, if you can. It contains at least two of the best episodes in the 4Kids run.

I like to pretend Image and Venus didn't exist. Can't say a positive thing about either. Do tell me what could IDW pull from that timeframe that was positive and make whatever that could possibilly be viable to fans who ignore it like me?

I agree about Fastforward. Some of it was plain unneccesary (Starlee and Triple Thread IMHO) but it had potential. What were the two episodes you are referring to? I am curious it if matches mine. I really enjoyed Bishop to Knight, Head of State, DNA Is Thicker Than Water, and Day of The Awakening.

I watched the episodes of fast forward that had explicit references or characters from the rest of the rest of the series, Bishop was actually pretty cool. I don't think any of the characters I saw that were unique to it were really worth revisiting.

Don't get me wrong, Radical and carnage were awesome, I wouldn't hate it if she appeared but I don't think its a story that needs to be retold. I'm gonna change my stance on the whole Rennet thing, this version has a big emphasis on the past, time travel may happen but not anytime soon.

I'd be game for that.

I was personally hoping to hear a Cajun accent for Leatherhead in the new series but you can't ask for everything from the retro turtles series. I would like to see Slash in the new series the most, maybe make Spike into the new Slash? I dunno how they will handle it, they made him want his tree/binky throughout the intro episode of the retro series. Maybe Mikey will him Slash or something similar while Raph keeps him named Spike.
Quote:
Slash has demonstrated super-strength, invulnerability, and skills with a katana, bo, sai, and nunchuku, meaning he is adept with every weapon that the TMNT wield, as well as Pantera claws similar to those used by Shredder. Slash is short tempered and has been known to fall into berserker rage, he seems to grow only stronger while in this state
So combine all turtles, Shredder, and Leatherhead... friggin' BEAST!

IDW turtles universe is not the same as the Mirage one, but still it's pretty similar, and yet they made Krang work in it pretty well, so I wouldn't mind anyone from any TMNT universe, until they handle that character well.

But honestly, Archie TMNT had a few memorable villians, and he was definitely one of them, and I think he would fit into the IDW version well:

There's nothing I'm dying to see, but I wouldn't blow a gasket if, like, new versions of Dragon Lord, Silver or Bonesteel appeared. They're pretty inoffensive/potentially fun filler characters. Things like that.

"DNA is Thicker Than Water" and "Milk Run" were the ones I was referring to, but are a number of episodes of that season I really enjoy.

Cajon leatherhead is the last thing I'd want to see, I don't think it would work at all. Not to to spoil it for you but Slash already appeared in IDW, hey you were bound to hear on this forum its old news.

Sooo many characters! Namely Venus, Erma, Vernon, Burne Thompson, Zach, Carter, Lord Dregg, Rhazar, Tokka, Jaguar, Dreadmon, mutagen man, Pizzaface, Muchman, Joe Eyball, Vid Vicious, Cudley the Cowlick, Shadow, Snakeweed, Spiderbite, The Pulverizer, Chong, any vampire characters, and any super heroes with super powers (Silver Sentry, Radical, etc...). There are probably more that I can' think of but this covers most of them.

^ I'd like to see some of those characters. Rahzar and Tokka could work, or maybe Rahzar alone since Slash looks too similar to Tokka in this incarnation.

Nothing wrong with Mutagen Man or Pizzaface.

As for the Nick mutants, I doubt we'll see all of them, but I wouldn't be surprised if one or two pop up in IDW at some point.

I can never understand why people wanna see Tokka and Rahzar, not because they're bad characters but because there's not really much to them and not much to expand upon.

Rahzar is a vicious wolf mutant. Doesn't get much cooler than that. The character literally has tons of potential.

The reason why I said Tokka and Rahzar is because they are flat characters. That being said I guess that leaves a lot of room to tailor them to the IDW universe so I guess they wouldn't be so bad after all (except that Tokka's role is already essentially filled by Slash as you pointed out).

As for Pizzaface.... I mean come on, how do you mutate with something which isn't even an organism? A pizza doesn't have its own DNA. A peperoni pizza would contain the DNA of a cow(cheese), pig (peperoni), tomato (tomato sauce), and wheat (pizza dough), but that would just leave you with a really screwed up human/cow/pig/tomato/wheat mutant. It is just too far fetched for my tastes.

As for Nick mutants, I would personally prefer if none of them were introduced but if I had to choose I would prefer to see Dogpound and/or Fishface, because I think they have the most potential as characters in this series.

How are they flat characters when they can do anything with them? Rahzar in the one cartoon episode he was in was totally different than his movie incarnation. They weren't "dumb babies" in the cartoon despite only having one appearance. Rahzar could talk and was quite intelligent in the show.

I can understand Tokka not fitting into IDW because Slash here seems like a combination of him, but Rahzar could work easily.

Well yeah, I'd prefer to see him in the Nick cartoon over the comic. :p

I agree, I was withdrawing my choice of Tokka and Rhazar in my second post. I was trying to say that I changed my mind because since they have been flat characters up to this point it gives the writers a lot of room for expansion/development into something cool, or as you put it "they can do anything with them". I guess my post was somewhat confusing though.

The fact that they are cool looking and not too far fetched is another big plus.

I want to see in IDW:

The Rat King
Nobody
Renet (and the Time Lord)
Shredder's Elite Guard
Hun: I think it would be cool if Hun was some type of Pro-Wrestler/MMA fighter with connections with The Foot
Punk Frogs (c'mon who doesn't love these guys)

Characters I don't want to see:
Any of the Mighty Mutanimals with the exception of Leatherhead
Silly Nick Mutants
Vanilla Ice
Super Shredder
Venus
Mona Lisa
Shadow
April's sister
The Dragon Lord

Aprils sister? Why not? She's so minor it wouldn't really change anything.

I don't believe any character in the franchise should be off limits.
I have the utmost faith that the creatives at IDW would find a way to make them work, if not at least make them more tolerable.
