I'm not seeing a top knot in that image of him as a rat. That's a giant leap toward the "deliberate and pronounced" caricature I was talking about.

If splinter mutated with mustache and hair, why didn't the turtles? They are teanagers, they should have facial hair...
I'm beginning to agree that they may well be going with an IDW angle of possible reincarnation. It's the only way I can conceive of Splinter and the Turtles having any Japanese cultural influence.

To be fair, maybe he's let his fur grow out intentionally to develop the style over the past 17ish years?

Well, we don't know what his involvement is so far. We just know he was involved in a project to supposedly create heroes. How the ooze came to be and what his involvement is remains unclear thus far.

A tie they left in the movie, whether or not what shredder says is true, which many see to think its is. there are ties to many different sources being used through out this movie Just from the trailers alone.
they would really have to expand that involvement for the movie because in the comic it begins and ends with studying it for awhile to see what it can do. so far its been a pretty minor detail. and I'm not seeing so many ties to different sources. mostly just the fred wolf toon and maybe the nick toon with the shell riser reference and the turtles body types I guess

I don't want to live in a world where Splinter shaves.

Shredders Involvement in the creation of the turtle-wolf series
Aprils father Albeit small-IDW
Japanese mural-2k3/ IDW

Utroms- Mirage/2k3/IDW/Nick(krang)
Lap Rat origin- IDW
April, Vernon, other characters- Wolf

Kevin Specifically Referencing using multiple tmnt source to create new version of the turtles while talking about this movie production.

Kevin Specifically Saying the this movie it "heavily Tied in the current TMNT mythos" There is plenty people just wont except it

Just like chances are your going to write this off as well as other that fine but it doesn't mean its not their

seconded. i'll give you that the fu Manchu beard thing has been done before but that's usually where it stops. I just don't like that it looks like at one point it looks like they intended to stop here:

During the fight with Shredder, he lets his hair down, and Donnie pops in from offscreen to say "OH **** THE SCRUNCHIE'S COMIN' OFF! YOU DONE ****ED UP NOW!"

I'd scratch the Utrom references. Currently we don't really have anything to suggest that's going to be in the movie at all.

Where's the mural connection to 2k3 and IDW?

Mostly it's Fred Wolf influences with a splash of comic here and there and a lot of original design.

I'll add one in place of Utrom Shredder (no foundation for that yet). Shredder using modern technology connected to ancient origins. That's a big 2k3 plot device. Less so in IDW, but there too.

Karai could just be a fan nod rather than any real inspiration from earlier sources. Wait and see for now to really get a feel for that.

So what your saying is this is fine

But as soon as you put a Top knot on him and its suddenly to far??
Something that stand for honor and tradition, With heavy influences in Japanese culture and history, suddenly becomes to much?

well no I won't write it off ill just say some of these are more speculation and not really concrete. also I don't think karai qualifies as a reference as she's been a main character in every tmnt universe but one. and that thing on donnies back does not look like a shout out to image

no im not saying that's fine either as its much more exaggerated there than it is usually. I'm saying that that's approaching the stereotype line and the movie just hopped over it riding a motorcycle while dunking a basketball. and it may stand for honor and tradition but the idea of a giant rat doing up the top of his fur in a top knot is pretty silly

I'm not really sure what this list is meant to prove. Was anyone claiming this movie has nothing in common with any previous versions of the turtles?

Going by the lighting, I'm thinking the fight takes place in the lair. At what point in the film though? Shredder and Sach's are going to be two separate entities so maybe this Shredder exists already but we don't know the back-story or who he is. Then the pieces of the puzzle start to come together..

Utroms in the painting, Possible Reincarnation influences

Sure I guess you can saw they went that route But influences are still something and means they are pulling from other sources

And shredder could be a macguffin(contract aren't an indication most big name movies do that now and day regardless of character just in case)

But seeing as she had been Seen In several Instance Subway, Lair break in, And turtle capture, Chances are shes important, my question is she shredder daughter in this(you argue not cuz hes white) is she adopted is she Splinters(if the script page was not final product and he actually starts human).

He is 100% a Utrom in this movie.

Whether or not an "Actual" human Shredder exists in this universe is what is unknown at the moment.

Agreed And i think it might be very likely

Does any one else Notice that that's looks like a drawing that Eastman drew
Seeing as he sat down with the director and drew photo and explain the entirety of the turtles History with him showing him photos and drawing for him, I think is likely
