Both are silly and stupid takes on Shredder. But at least SOTO is a purposely more comedic, less serious, more cartoony as well as 'kid-friendly film'. It never portrayed itself as 'realistic/serious'.

And at least I can enjoy SOTO for other things. Like the Turtles themselves (yes, I still enjoy the Turtles designs in SOTO much better than the new ones. Yes, I get it...you disagree with me. Oh well, we agree to disagree. To each their own).

This new film, on the other hand? It's a film that people keep saying that it's trying to be more realistic/serious/dark/gritty. And yet it still has silly & over the top stuff like the look of this Shredder.

And when a Shredder has multiple blades that are at least a Foot long each (if not more), as well as an Extreme Amount of blades all over...then yes, it's silly & ridiculous that no one would get seriously sliced/cut/wounded during a fight with a thing like that. Especially for a film that is, once again, being lauded as a 'more serious/realistic' take on The Turtles by multiple people. Including you.

I don't think anyone is claiming this is a realistic film.
I think some of the staff working on it claimed something to that extent. Also, it's one of the arguments of the people who defend this movie.

And, also, Shredder'14 design is ridicolous. If he was fighting another robots or exoskeletons, it would have made sense - there would be plenty amount of stuff to slash and rip. But since, I don't think we'll see any dismemberments in a new movie, such design is rather strange choice, to say the least.

Here's a better view of Shredder.

http://i.imgur.com/bVY8SV3.png[/QUOTE]

Seems a bit over the top, I can't even imagine them or anyone fighting this guy and I really would like to see a live action Shredder more like the first movie where his gear/get up allowed him to fight easy, BUT I will say this shot looks awesome as sh** for a film frame. Being that I have seen a version/fights with Shredder that I love in the original comic, first movie, and new Nick show, I am open to seeing something new and un expected happen, might be rad..

I can't wait to see this fight between shredder and splinter. I hope splinter gives him an ass whoopin but shredder looks way to powerful, this will have to a be well choreographed in order to work.

I guess in an extreme comparison it works, but the Dark Knight trilogy, I felt they very often took themselves too serious compared to TMNT 1990.

That shot of don and mike looks so badass, you see don give the nod to mike to lead with an attack, god the more we see the better it gets.

That shedder is pretty dam fluid moving too.

Yeah I love the movement on Shredder, can't wait to see more, but I def don't want to see too much before seeing the whole movie.

Ang Lee's Hulk was a peculiar film though. It had those comic book panels and some weird transitions.

Ditto; I feel it's the strongest tv spot/mini-trailer we've had thus far. I much prefer the high-energy approach of this spot to seeing Sachs monologuing.

I just saw it twice. Why is it every time they show even more of the turtles they just look worse and worse? And omg even shredder looks horrible. Just freakin ridiculous. This looks like rob leifield was in charge. Everything looks so EXTREME TO THE MAX for the sake of being EXTREME TO THE MAX.

While I my self don't agree that everything looks horrible... I agree a bit about the EXTREME TO THE MAX statement, he. The whole look appears to have popped up from the 90's comic era when Liefeld and many other comic artists were pushing the style in a rather over the top direction... It just has that over-dressed roided-up aesthetics. I find it both a bit disappointing and amusing.

I'm warming up to Shredder besides what I think are the retractable blades on his hands/forearm. I do agree that the Turtles faces are a little off. Leo looks great imo Raph not too bad but some shots of Mikey and especially Donnie, have not been too promising. Let's hope it translates well on the screen. I hate that I feel that way but I just do.
