I mean, there's some precedent for that. The "Hard Traveling Heroes" of the 70s and all. And it might make the actual big space stuff they'll do much seem much more earned when they do it.

I actually much prefer the stories with Kyle Rayner when he was always grounded on Earth, but then gets sometimes dragged into affairs on other worlds and such. But always has coffee at Radu's and keeps his life going in NYC.

“Our Lanterns have the rings and all the power they bring, and other characters and aspects of the lore are going to show up or be name-checked. But it’s a series that explores who these guys are when they’re on the job and when they’re out of uniform,” says Mundy. “It’s designed to be accessible for people who don’t know the mythology, but hopefully really satisfying for people that know it backwards and forwards.” He adds that Lanterns is set in its own creative realm, separate from other current or forthcoming DC Studios films and shows. “We’re not part of a larger storytelling plan right now,” says Mundy. “Season one is designed to be its own, complete season of television that, hopefully, will become many seasons of television.”

They say that, but they already said the Guy Gardner from Gunn's Superman movie is already supposed to show up. Not right away, but he will.

Honestly? This replacement to the Snyderverse has had so much creator-masturbation in public, brief classes about the "universe" on Twitter/YouTube, talk from Gunn about "continuity clarifications" and so much other cart-before-the-horse bull$#!( that I'm not even remotely excited by any tease that I see. Complete apathy.

Just bring the movies out and let's see them and hopefully something will be exciting and great. 'Cuz f'n "Creature Commandos" aint it.

I saw them all. They're just what you'd expect from Gunn, just a "weirder" extension of his The Suicide Squad movie. It doesn't even feel like it'd be outside of the -- at that time -- DCEU.

I just don't get why we couldn't have just gotten a soft reboot with Cavill and all. What's the reason why not? Because it'd be too hard to retrofit Krypto into the Man of Steel story? Is that about it? Supergirl already had an in in MoS.

I've been hearing rumblings about things in this vein for a while now about the show. It'll be Hal and John in the heartland going up against... white supremacists, same as Gunn had in Creature Commandos and same as Gunn had in Peacemaker. And they may of may not be investigating the death of (the retconned to be gay for the past few years) Alan Scott by their hands.

Will have to watch the show before passing judgement, but I’m not liking the casting for Hal or John, unfortunately.

A lot of FAKE stuff in there like Sinestro from the Ryan Reynolds movie. For me, obviously a big GL fan:

* Hal's too old.

* John's too effeminate/non-threatening.

Still, it's probably going to be a whole hell of a lot better than the show they were going to do before this. Which was apparently a big gay love story with Alan Scott in the 40s and then his murder investigation in the present.

Haha… sorry guys. Boomer moment!

My opinion still stands and I agree with Andrew’s assessment. I guess it’s a good thing Guy is the main Lantern in the movies, but I don’t know what THE SLATE is planning with these two.

This barely looks like a bigger budget than the old CW superhero shows.

I see the Green Lantern uniform hanging up on a hanger in a closet... except the ring makes the costume so that doesn't make any sense. And it looks leather and brown in spots... yuck.

Honestly this is much worse than I was fearing.

Yeah, and I'm still worried that maybe that 1940s gay melodrama murder mystery with Alan Scott from the previous incarnation of the show survived, as well.

Even worse you can't just ignore the show like the CW shows because this is tied directly into Gunn's universe.

I said it elsewhere, but this trailer is made by people too spooked to pitch capes*it to casuals.

Well said! And that’s very odd, since this is part of the Gunn-verse. What are they doing?
