I think it's a mistake to expect a sequel to this game. If we get one, great, but don't count on it. Let's make Smash Up 1 the best game it can be, Ubisoft. Pretty please!

I wouldn't count on it, either, for a sequel to Smash-Up. No other TMNT fighter had a direct sequel. Oh, sure, there were three Tournament Fighters games, but all three were named the same in the US, and came out the same week. That was in 1993. It was another twelve years before the next TMNT fighter, Mutant Melee. We're lucky to be getting Smash-Up only four years after that.

Then again, this is Ubisoft working on Smash-Up, not Konami. Who knows? They might surprise us....

Well you can't count trends with TMNT games since its a license property and two different companies developing them

We didn't get a sequel to Tournament Fighters because the turtle fad was dying by the time the game came out and only reason we got them anyway was because of the fighting game craze started by SF. Its also why we didn't get any more turtle games after that. No TMNT fighting games for the NT until Mutant melee because none of them sold that great, they sold decent and eventually tried it. Had the game sold like in the early 90s we would have had twice as many TMNT games with a higher chances of more fighting games.

Anyways for a sequel to smash up it depends how it sells. If it sells bad its likely no new turtles game until a new movie/show. If it sells decently we probably would get another TMNT game any genre. If it sells great then we'll definitely see Smash Up 2 within a year....

But anyways if we're predicting based on past TMNT fighters then I guess its safe to assume we will get the most random characters in the game even, obscure ones even if they aren't popular.

As far as how much this game will sell, I think it'll sell decently but not great..
Theres no show/movie to tie-in that the kids will buy it because of that. And its getting coverage from more "core" gamers so it'll definitely get a few sales from nostalgia. So yeah it'll do alright but I doubt it'll become a huge hit. September is a good date, I dont think too many other games are coming out then and its before the overly crowded videogame holiday season.

Like Utrominator, and arguably (although they're not TMNT characters), the Rabbids?

Nope. Haven't really been interested a great deal in the game yet. I've been posting a few videos in the TMNT:Re-Shelled thread but didn't realize the amount of difference in the volume.

Well most people at NeoGAF seem to be pretty happy with the Rabbids on TMNT Smash Up..... I've never played any of the rabbids game maybe if I had I would actually like this.

Anyways also I'm starting to think its not one rabbid that would have a different costumes, look at the select screen:

It looks like the Sam Fisher Rabbid has a gun and probably has Sam Fisher related moves.

I saw the video featuring the fact that Rabbids were involved. I was actually...kind of disgusted. I mean it's supposed to be a TMNT game and using characters from the 25 years that TMNT has been around thus far...but instead they include that. Ugh. I'll get the game anyways, but I do not like the fact that there are Rabbids in the game at all.

Then you must not be that disgusted. "I don't like this! Here's my money!"

Some people don't let a couple of bad apples spoil the whole bunch.

Sure but complaining about the bad apples and then eating them doesn't make much sense.

I hate it as much as everyone but come on to not buy the game or the game now sucks because of them is a bit harsh.

Its like saying you won't eat a nice lobster dinner because theres some broccoli on the side and you hate broccoli.

Its more like eating all the good apples and being ok with eating 1 or two bad apples.

Edit: BTW does anyone have the picture of the rabbids dressed as TMNT?

How funny would it be if the Rabbids got the "go ahead" but Rocksteady, Bebop, and Krang all got the big N-O?

It'd be hilarious, if only for the irony. Otherwise, the very notion is quite infuriating.

Actually, when all comes to all, I don't think that it is his decision.

Maybe Laird is a big fan of the Rabbids game and he was the first to request if the rabbids could be in the game. Then Ubisoft liked the idea of making this game have various characters from Ubisoft and asked Laird if they could place Sam Fisher. Laird only being a fan of the Rabbid games didn't want this however he came up with a win/win situation. Have more Rabbids but with different outfits including outfits from other Ubisoft characters. As long as we get the main cast of TMNT (turtles/april/shredder etc) instead of using other characters we can fill them the game with rabbids.

I hope the rabbids are lockables.

EDIT: So I can lock 'em up and throw away the key... in case I wasn't obvious enough.
