And it can't be good for sales, take a look at New Super Mario Bros. 2 and NSMBU, both original titles but released very close to each other and it only made the other title not sell as much since they were too close together in release date. I'm sure SSB for 3DS is a fine game since its a "not as good version" of the Wii U version, which that in itself is a great feat, but an original title would've been better, I wouldn't have minded if it launched a year later or if it had delayed the Wii U version. I know Nintendo wasn't in a position to delay the Wii U version but still this can't help sales for the Wii U if. Only Ice Climbers being cut isn't THAT big of a deal but it makes you wonder how many other sacrifices had to be made for the 3DS version to be the same.

There's nothing crappy about Super Smash Bros. 3DS. The controls are great, the modes are there, the game runs at 60fps. It sounds like you've written it off as inferior because it's portable, like that, itself, is a flaw.

It's not about the 3DS version hurting Wii U sales, and it's not about greed - it's about Super Smash Bros being a successful game, even though no one bought a Wii U. There were about 100 million Wii's sold, worldwide, and 12 million copies of Brawl. With 7 million Wii U's sold, how many copies of Smash Wii U are going to sell?

There are 44 million 3DS units sold, worldwide. Smash 3DS just sold A MILLION COPIES in Japan, in one weekend. The 3DS game is about to make Pokemon money. That means Super Smash Bros is about to make Pokemon money. In large part, because the real, full, not-inferior version is available on a console people actually own.

Wasn't a huge Ice Climbers fan, but I'll kind of miss them. Although, I know a few people who used them a lot who've said "Mewtwo sucked he deserved to be cut" or "Wolf was just another stupid Fox clone, I'm glad he's gone", now they know how it feels.

Sucks about Snake never even being planned to return. On the plus side, I hated his taunts that were all the same thing.

The 3DS version is definitely not a dumbed down port. It clearly isn't getting the polish the Wii U version is getting, but gameplay wise it's fantastic. Only the backwards shield and grab buttons took getting used to. The stages though, are unacceptable. Mario got like four new stages (three of which are definitely version exclusive) and Pokemon got two. Whereas Metroid, Star Fox, DK and Pikmin all got stuck with old stages. Old Melee stages for that matter, with the obvious exception of Pikmin.

ive been playing this game non stop on my JPN-3DS since launch.

#teamDuckHuntDog & #TeamPalutena ftw! (toon link and dr. mario too)

you get reminded how sucky at smash you really are when you play online, lol..
some of those guys are really good!

its cool to see all of the promotions everywhere here in Japan..
even on the trains i commute on, everyone is Smashing on their 3DS.
its like a cool calling card and nod when you see other people on their device..

some 20 something lady playing smash, waiting for the train earlier this week..

I do love the 3ds version, can't wait to chill out in bed and play it, or at work etc.

I am however pi~~ed off that they can't just put the Ice Climbers on the Wii U version. So what if the Wii U version has a few extra characters, most people will double dip anyway.

It's lame knowing that the ice climbers have been running along side the new comers and we may never see it.

Given that Mewtwo is being majorly promoted in the Pokemon franchise again with new X and Y evolutions, an appearance in Pokemon Origins and is in the games its mind blowing Sakurai didn't bring him back instead of Dr. Mario.

Really hoping the Wii-U connectively DLC comes true with Mewtwo, Ridley, Dixie and Chorus Kids. Throw in the Ice Climbers and Wolf and it'll be ideal.

Did Sakurai even say that the Ice Climbers will not be in the Wii U version? He only mentioned why they couldn't return in the 3DS game.
