This is more of studio issue than a Zack Snyder one.
Zack Snyder created the studio issue, by purposely being divisive in his interpretation.

Causality.

Also, Ayer had to mesh his world to Snyder, and then have the whole thing undone thanks to Snyder.

Anyway you slice it, the fish stinks from the head. Deborah or Zack or both are to blame.

Warner Bros. allowed Zack Synder to steer the ship.

While purposely trying to catch up to marvel by releasing too many films without a stable set-up.

to add salt to the wound, these Synder interpretations are terrible. No one is interested in seeing a depressed Superman and a batman who kills. It's the reason as to why the office box for these films have been underwhelming.

You would think after the critical reception and BO for Watchmen and Man of Steel, Warner Bros. would figure out that Zack is the problem. But no they assumed adding more Batman would fix everything. This is why Batman v Superman exists.

Warner Bros is to blame more so than Zack. I'm not letting Zack off the hook, because he's still a terrible director.
I'm just looking at the bigger picture here.

You do realize his wife is on the inside, right?
She's got her hooks in, She keeps her little cuck afloat.

WB should share in the blame, but I think the larger picture is that WB doesn't fully trust their DC properties. There's a long standing resentment towards Superman, hard to know why. They hate cape flicks, that's for sure.

Undeniably so. It's bizarre... I don't think I've ever seen a studio react so strongly and insecurely with each new movie in a series.

I mean, people keep hating on Fox's X-Men but those keep getting churned out exactly the same... WB needs to either have faith in their producers and vision, or can them and replace them. But this straddling the fence can't last much longer. It just can't. The DCEU will either implode, drastically change, or decide to do its own thing, consequences be damned.

They hate Superman. There's nothing more to it than that. They really do. They hate DC in general, and I think it goes back to Superman lives, or maybe something about the deals on Superman 78 on through. When Singer is the one fighting the studio to keep Superman from losing his underwear, or his red cape...

every incarnation, somebody has been very vocal about taking away the elements of what makes Superman, Superman.
On the one hand you have Disney/Marvel fighting to get their characters back, on the other WB doing their damnedest to destroy what they own, despite their "toys" being the best you could possibly have.

And when they don't deconstruct them, they embarrass them, with shin guards, and a goofy actor.

No ****. That's why Marvel makes good movies now, because they took chances and made all those poopy movies for 10 years before starting their own studio.

DC has been pussyfooting around all these years and only trusting Batman, but after DoJ they're surely scratching their heads. Really hope SS does well and gets them thinking outside the box.

Sounds about right to me.

What's disappointing in what I'm reading is the consensus that it appears the Joker seems an afterthought, a tacked on thing that's actually distracting and not really beneficial to the movie... yet he's like the linchpin of all the marketing.

Not only is he the one everyone knows, but Leto ... is Leto.

So, in the real world, companies are hired to do work. Ad agencies, marketing firms aren't necessarily fans of the stuff they market. Same can be said of studio heads, directors, actors, all around. They work with the material, or a client, etc, but it isn't the only thing they're dealing with.

And, it's not some faceless entity, with all the power of Zeus , picking and choosing the very best way to represent a thing. Some small group of artists, driven by middle managers, producers, brand experts, stratageists, media managers, supervising editors, etc...all in a bid to please a client, who is an underling to their supervisor...

It's a big machine, where decisions are less made, than happen.

Maybe that's why he's tacked on...but if the story is anything like the animated version, he's actually central to the plot.

I can tell you, flat out, Ayer isn't interested in SS. He's interested in a bunch of people getting screwed by the system. He's put them in DC land, because he gets to play in a bigger sandbox.

I don't imagine Ayer spent much time developing The joker, because, like Snyder, he's interested in deconstructing the camp, putting these guys in the real world.

Like that article said, being a director doesn't mean you love your studio projects.

Wonder Woman is going to get positive reviews regardless of how it actually is. Critics can't say bad things about muh first female comic movie

It might get a little help, you're right, but it helps that it looks to be decent though.

It does look good, but I don't trust Geoff Johns having his hacky little hands all over the script, though.

Wonder Woman looks like Captain America/Thor fusion with the Marvel touch. That's boring to me.

I wasn't interested in seeing Suicide Squad in theaters until the bad reviews came out oddly enough. I still think there's a Marvel bias affecting reviews, BvS didn't deserve that score no matter how much the internet hates it. I like different things from movies than most people too so I may find things I like. While BvS had bad things I genuinely enjoyed it.

I think Suicide Squad will be huge though, I've seen so many people talk about it that don't normally mention superhero movies. It's worth noting I said the same for BvS though. If it bombs I don't think DC will be able to recover though it would mean they have it against them for whatever reason (direction/bias/quality) and reboot or try something totally different because if not I only see Batman doing excellent. Other movies will make a profit like BvS but if they don't meet expectations they'll be seen as bombs.

Suicide Squad Rotten Tomatoes

Critics Consensus: Suicide Squad boasts a talented cast and a little more humor than previous DCEU efforts, but they aren't enough to save the disappointing end result from a muddled plot, thinly written characters, and choppy directing.

My problem with Wonder Woman is Chris Pine. Everything he said in the trailer was either a pale attempt at humor or just plain stupid.
I hope the movie has less of Chris Pine and more of Wonder Woman kickin' ass.

I disagree with all of those statements - it's like I saw a different movie or something.

Suicide Squad had a great ad campaign, but apparently...like so many of the DC movies, they're all flash with no bang.

I'm going to have to watch it a second time before I'll go to bat for this movie, but a lot of these reviewers are being a little bit churlish.

He has to so Wonder Woman is only in the right. In any movie/show where the female is the lead, the male has to look secondary to her and often incompetent or wrong. Its a feminist thing but in that context it makes sense.

He's a human and she's an Amazon Warrior who can flip cars in the air.
