The Prestige was great. But now that I'm thinking about, does nobody ever get a happy ending with their significant other in a Nolan movie? If it does, it's mostly off-screen (Interstellar and Dark Knight Rises).Quote:
Continuing the idea of different perspectives, I love Christopher Nolan's movies even though most of you here don't. Don't really know what else to say other than that. <shrug>

So it appears the cut critics saw was one that came about after the studio meddled with the director's vision

It was a legit ask, not a bait. You seem to be drawn to the subject matter. ------- I'm not surprised Squad is getting harsh reviews. The trailer has me hyped, but Ayer isn't everyone's cup of tea. This isn't GOTG. At all. And Snyder is still on the periphery. Until Snyder is cut loose, DC will continue to have problems. I think it will do better than BVS at the B.O. |

Like I said, I like the man's work and I don't agree with a lot of the criticisms leveled at it. That's it. His style and themes resonate with me.But hey, you drink your own cup of tea.

Okay, follow up question; are you secretly Christopher Nolan? David Goyer? Jonathon Nolan? Cousin Bob Nolan?

Perhaps, instead, I'm super touchy when it comes to YOU and don't want to start another Nolan/DCEU argument with you.

I notice a lot around here that when someone's opinion on a movie goes against the popular opinion that they are accused of being a "plant" or family member or something in relation to the "bad" side.
Has the polarization of everything really reached the point that if someone doesn't share that opinion that they are somehow tainted or biased? Why is it so strange that everyone has their own likes and dislikes that might be different than yours or even the majority of folks? I'm sick to death of hearing about critics and Rotten Tomatoes and what is "good" and "bad". Liking or not liking something that involves an artistic element is so subjective. It kills me when people allow someone else to influence whether or not they like something like a movie, or a pice of art, or music. No one can tell you if you like something like this or not. To me it is all very subjective and personal. Why can't we get back to the place where if a movie looks interesting, you see it. Then you an decide whether you like it or not instead of obsessively pouring over the opinions of someone else and deciding what you think before you even see a movie. I'm not defending or detracting from Suicide Squad or any other movie here (or speaking to anyone in particular, before someone thinks that) I just do not get this obsession with critics and internet scores and side picking over something as subjective as whether or not you like a movie. |

What did I ever do?
I don't get it. I was right about BVS...ffs. I'm not happy I was right, or that we're suffering through the Snyderverse, brought on by the Nolanverse. They bastardized the characters, I just pointed it out. But fine, I'll be the giant evil windmill; tilt away dude. @ Katie Cylon defends Nolan hard, which is fine, and his prerogative, but getting irrationally defensive because you "like" a thing, is strange, no matter who it is. I legitimately like knowing why folks attach to things. I never really got Leo's rational for defending BVS, anymore than I get why Sam loved Bayturtles. I get Trump Supporters, and I get Hillary's base; I disagree with both, but I understand what they see in their candidate. When somebody likes a thing, that I don't, figuring out why might help me like it too. So, I ask. The end. |

I liked BvS because it attempted to have some depth to it and tried to pull off something different than the marvel movies. I actually had fun watching it. It's just capesh*t but I was actually suprised by how much I liked it.

Being deconstructive I think is a pretty cheap means of achieving said depth in my book. Anyone can take a fairy tale and spin it into a Rhold Dhal nursery rhyme

Saying that I'm super touchy with anything reflects back on me as much as it points to you and I'm okay with that. No blame there, just saying you and I don't get along. Irrationally defensive? Giant evil windmill? Do you hear yourself or are you just enjoying this and hoping for a meltdown with me storming off the 'Drome, never to return? I'm willing to live and let live; are you not?

Letting a trailer cutting company generate a final cut of the movie is crazy to me. Guess those rumors from Faraci about WB wanting the massive reshoots so the final movie matched the first trailer were true. |

We get employee screenings for movies that may have mild success such as Legend of Tarzan, Now You See Me 2, or Ghostbusters. For huge films such as Disney or Star Wars however, it'll be too much of hassle for us to see it before everyone else because it'll be too busy the night it comes out. Suicide Squad is no exception. For those type of movies if we want to watch it opening night, we have to pay like everyone else does.

I asked a simple question, but now I know, you got beef. It's cool man. I get you now. It's tracking strong, plus theres all the angry Fanboys out there who're upset that BVS took the beating it did. They'll show up three and 4 times, to get numbers up, support their team. Also, there's no competition, at all. Last edited by Commenter 42; 08-03-2016 at 11:42 AM. |
