For me, a character design and redesign includes non-physical traits as well, a full development, even though I know this isn't a writing contest, and I don't want it to become one. My April had a back story and I included it with my submission but I am not sure if anyone actually recognized that. So I completely understand what you are talking about. I don't expect to win or anything like that, I participate because it is something to do. But if we start adding more rules and things of that nature things can get a bit more complicated and confusing for the voters...

As for what character wins the poll for the next challenge I could care less about that... Yellow jacket, green jacket, who gives a sh*t... I don't know about most of ya'll but I plan on living for a while longer so if a character don't get picked this time around then there is plenty of time for it to be up in the polls again...

I don't mind a back story with the artwork, more to it. As long as it is a redesign and different from what has been done before.
I thought Kali's was a nice, new, different design, hence the reason I believe she won. This is a redesign contest, and in that aspect is the reason I love this contest. To see new different perspectives of one character with new aspects and creations different from the original, hence the word redesign.

I am guilty as charged of not really redesigning on the April round...

I do think it would be interesting to pose this question to every artist who submits a redesign:
"If you were going to use this character in a new TMNT universe/series/story, what role would he/she/it play?"

I do this, but only in my head when I'm drawing the character, than since I know the story I'm too lazy to share it, lol.

too bad there can't be two polls. In one of my other fandoms there was a monthly art contest and there were two catergories to vote in. One was for artistic and the other was for creative.

But it is a redesign contest it should just be for creativity and not the artwork itself. It should be based on uniqueness of the artwork. In my opinion...

Well, I got to this party a bit late. D'oh! Meaning I ain't gonna be able to finish it for the deadline. You get the jist of it with this, though:

The unfinished arm, etc are very rough pencils - it woulda been refined a fair bit before going over with pen.

Backstory? Well, there's a Foot symbol 'pon his eyepatch, and he's wearing Shredder style armour. So I guess he was brought up and trained by the Foot or something along that lines...

I like everyone's redesigns. Very nice.

Mine is unfinished, but I'm getting married this weekend so this is as finished as it's gonna get. I know everyone loves color so I slapped color and a little shading on him.

I wish I had more time that I could of whipped up something better, but I digress.

For a weird reason I can't get over you awesome turtle face cartoonistaaron, it reminds me of Ren and Stimpy.

SO you wanted a backstory? Ok Some of the Foot are still pissed at the TMNT for Killing Shredder (I know get over yourselves right) and they somehow develop a super Turtle that has Mikey's Agility, Donnie's Technical savviness and intellect, Raph's raw srength,Leo's skill and Shredder's bloodlust. POW they got slash with no palm tree. Just the ultimate killing machine

I had not much time to give to it... nor to the forums last weeks... but I had to make my own Slash, so from this sketch I made:

I worked to get my sub done... Utrom nightmare... Slash.

Is not what I wanted... but with no time to color the sketch... if I win I promise to color the original sketch.
