You're full of ****.

Despite his good looks, Alan is a no-name and they got him because he's gonna save money in the budget.

1. I don't care if he can sing; he won't be singing

2. I don't care what he looks like; the only face we'll see is that of a CGI turtle

3. I don't care if he is an unknown; everyone was an unknown at some point. Would you prefer Robert Dinero to play Raph?

4. I don't care how tall he is; moder movie technology can fix most anything

5. I'm tired of all the whining about this film. Reserve your judgement for when it comes out. If you don't like it after you've watched it then whine to your hearts content. They're still in the casting stage for Pete's sake. All I care about the actors is that they have the physical capability to pull of athletic, martial art moves, and that their voices fit the roll. I don't give a crap if I'm familiar with them or not. I wasn't familiar with the guys who were casted as cap and Thor in the avengers, but I thought they played their rolls great.

You're right... They're probably just aliens...

Anyway, I'm not really worried about who'll play the Turtles. The most important thing will be their design anyway. That's what you'll see on screen.
Sure, the voice is important but I'm sure they'll all do OK. Just look how cool Sean Astin's Raphael turned out. Who'd have thought that when he was cast?

Actually- I'm worried more about who'll play Casey Jones...
No CGI to hide behind there...

It's funny that people are talking about his height and worried that will affect Raphael. With movie technology nowadays you can fix anything. Did you know that Ian Mckellen is 5'11" whereas john Rys-davies is over 6', at yet in The Lord of the Rings, Gimli is way shorter than Gandalf, and all that was just done with clever camera work

I'm fine with this. He's funny in Blue Mountain State. Also kinda has a Nolan North-ish voice.

This is horrible...

What if Bay is casting model guys like Ritchson as the Turtles because we will see their faces at the start of the movie...
What if they decided that -like Hamato Yoshi himself turning into a mutant rat in the Wolf cartoon- they wanted actual human brothers turned into the Turtles...

Please tell me I'm wrong... Please tell me I'm full of it...

In any case, I'm not getting any sleep tonight....

So only ugly people can play turtles?

There is no way anyone can judge this by looking at his past work. In casting they may have asked him to speak a certain way. We may not even hear his regular voice when he plays Raph.

I have read this boards for a while and I am pretty sure people always wanted unknowns for these roles. Now all of a sudden people are like meh when someone who is unknown gets the part of Raph.

Just don't get it.

Some people think an unknown is just a non-A-List actor.

Exactly. Andy Serkis did the mo-cap for Peter Jackson's King Kong, for crying out loud. A motion capture character can be any size they desire.

Anyhow, not sure how I feel about this casting. On the one hand, the original TMNT film didn't exactly use name actors for the Turtles, either. However, I get the impression that this guy will be both acting and voicing Raph. I'm not sure what kind of voice he'll bring to it. I'll file this one in the "wait and see" category.

He is buff and all... but Wouldn't you expect him to have some sort of Martial Arts background to play the part?

Excellent point. Not sure...

Though I think that most of the fights will be mo capped with actual martial artists. Pretty much like the main Turtle actors in movie one had their fight doubles.

It would, of course, be awesome if they'd choose Turtle actors with martial arts background... Guys like Ray Park, Scott Adkins or Ernie Reyes Jr...

Wait a minute... That's your three missing Turtles right there.

And if their voice isn't fitting pick a voice actor from the past cartoon shows to re-dub it later.

The standards for you people.

So the people who play the turtles must be unknowns, are the perfect height and weight, Must fit the personality even in their previous work and also have a martial arts background.

Are you joking?

I didn't say anything about known or unknown or about height. I think we've established by now that height is irrelevant.
What I meant is that, when casting actors to physically portray Ninja Turtles, I'd rather go for actors trained in the martial arts then actors with a pretty face. Is that so strange?
I'm not saying they can't be handsome guys. If their good lookin'- that's fine. The most important thing is that they can get the job done.

I was talking earlier about who I would think would be great Turtle performers and I mentioned guys like Ray Park and Scott Adkins... We all know Park's got what it takes from his roles like Snake Eyes in G.I. Joe, Toad in X-Men and Darth Maul in Episode I...
And have a look at this Adkins guy...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_OHCjZnT4A

Don't you agree that he'd be an awesome Turtle performer?

What we have so far are Fox and Ritchson. Don't get me wrong... I have nothing against them. Well, I have nothing against Ritchson... In fact I think he'd be a perfect He-Man if they ever make that long awaited Masters of the Universe film. He's got the good looks and the muscular body. Perfect He-Man.
Is he a good choice for Raphael? Well, we'll see...

Anyway, I'm not worried about the cast just yet.
But if the next Turtle will be played by Taylor Lautner I'm pulling the alarm bell.

But I thought you wanted martial artists and Taylor Lautner knows martial arts.
