Was I the only one digging the music during the fight with Savanti at the end? I mean, the whole episode had a great score, but that end song in particular was great.

Ok really though, am I the only one super pissed off that even though the turtles know Karai is being brainwashed the three of them tell Leo to just Give up on her, and that's there's nothing they can do and just forget it? I mean what the hell?! If this was one of them or April in that situation they wouldn't rest a minute till they saved them, but because Nick hates Karai with a passion they just go and say, hey, Karai had a mutation forced upon her and now is basically being mind raped into serving someone she hates, but y'know what, forget about her, I mean who cares. Just pisses me off to no end.

I didn't see it as that way. I mean yeah Raph might deem her a lost cause. And Donnie has legitimate reasons as to why she shouldn't be trusted. But at the same time they have other pressing concerns then just Karai. They do have the Shredder and whatever he's planning as well.

So while they were saying they should let her go, they weren't saying she should be forsaken completely. They were saying Karai isn't what we should be focusing on right now.

Too late to give some light thoughts on today episode? Too bad, I'm going to write them any way.

This was okay episode. Pretty much all of the new characters from Renet to Lord Simultaneous was done straight from the mirage comics with little to no deviation done towards them although that's not exactly a bad thing since these characters are hardly shown in other tv adaptations with exception of the 2k3 series, but honestly had I closed my eyes and not question why turtles sound so different, I would have thought that this was a 2k3 episode.

On other thoughts, Savanti was a typical mustache twirling bad guy but for once that type of simple archetype actually worked well for this episode because the tone of it was just goofy enough to not feel out of place. If the writing is not going to be serious/complex then it helps to have simple characters.

Now on to Renet. I think she was sorta okay. These are light thoughts so I am not entirely sure on what to say on her exactly. I need to see more of Renet to give a real opinion.

The only thing that I can say is that I didn't really understand her reason to go to the twenty first century. I know she's a fan girl and all but would it made more sense to go a time frame to when the turtles are grown warriors that already had the experience of defeating Savanti?

Anyway time lord logic aside, the attraction between Renet and Mikey was a little annoying and in your face at times, but it was refreshing that the writers lay ground work on why these two would be attracted to each other in the first place instead of you-know-what. Yay for the writers for not being lazy!

Now for the next episode if I can just see evidence that Splinter's dad really did in fact favored Shredder over Splinter as the good son then it would prove that my parallel family dynamic theory was right on the money.

I miss that part in the beginning but seriously? WTF. On the other hand, were there any scene prior that had shown them discovering that she was brain washed? If not it would explain why they would think that she's a lost cause if they thought that she did it on her free will. With that free will being to poison them one by one?

But it's like I said, if it'd been one of them or April there wouldn't be anything they'd focus on first.

hey guys, just watched the new episode...and I LOVED it!woah, this felt really good I must say!in the beginning I was entertained by the brothers just goofing off and talking relationships in the roof after spending who knows how much time looking out for karai.then when the issue #8 story started to break loose I was a little sad that we wouldn't enjoy cerebus along for the ride...but the episode really really made up for that loss in my opinion.it felt adventurous, loved the humour in it...haha donnie faking an accent was really funny I thought.the über-creepy cemetery scene with the undead was incredible fun!and beautifully designed and executed, don't you think?
in general what really stood out to me about turtles in time was that there seemed to be so much less repetitiveness in the animation, there were a lot of great visual decisions in terms of camera angles (cemetery scene, romero's castle etc..) and dynamic story telling..the fight scenes felt nice and fresh!..I really liked today's episode I must say.and the epilogue in the end??WOAH!!I cannot WAIT for next sunday!great ending!!!
edit: I noticed michael chang wrote this one, he also made the first episode two parter and some others...all very enjoyable to me...

I felt this, too, and I loved it. The Raph and the horse dynamic reminded me of 2003. The humor in this episode was fantastic, tbh. If they wrote it more like this permanently, I'd be so happy.

If it were one of the Turtles, of course they'd make that their main priority. How could you expect them not to? If it was April, well, it could be argued that April's a bigger part of their family than Karai. Karai spent most of seasons 1 and 2 as an adversary, and she's not in her right mind for season 3. Plus, if they take out Shredder, there's a good chance they could get Karai back. They're not forsaking her completely, they're just saying that they need to focus on more important tasks.

I believe the Time Scepter will be the key of something I have been suspecting. Maybe Tang Shen will be brought back to life with it after the Shredder's attack, and then the turtles will bring her back to the future. That way, history is preserved and a tragedy solved.

That was a really good episode. LOVED Renet. She had a great personality, and was an adorable badass.

Savanti...he was kind of a procrastinating idiot. I'm sure someone already pointed this out, but he could have very easily wiped the turtles and Renet from existence if he wasn't too busy trying to make up his mind on what he wanted to do. Though it probably would have put the writers in a very tight corner.

Definitely not. As soon as they save Tang Shen, the Turtles would be erased from history because Shen would obviously want to see her daughter/husband. It'd alter the whole timeline. Plus, we already know that this coming episode is going to spark the rage in the Turtles to take out Shredder once and for all.

A thought occurred to me. What if Savanti reappears through a loose adaptation of 2k3's The Return of Savanti?

They save Tang Shen, but she stays knocked out until the turtles return to the future.

Sweeeeeet episode! I had been dying for them to find a way to get the Turtles to Japan. I can't wait for this to play out. This whole time travel thing would be a great way to work Usagi in too. I know that's probably never gonna happen with this one but a guy can dream I suppose. Also the music in this episode was really good. Especially during the graveyard fight.

No. I thought of it too. Also I thought of Ghosts and Goblins during that fight.

If anything, they'd have to save her in a way that she and Yoshi would both be under the impression that the other died in the fire, so Yoshi is still encouraged to flee to NYC. Though it would be too easy to find each other either coming to look through the rubble or simply via relatives.

Doubt she'll be saved though, and it's so risky for the Turtles to do so. Would be noble of them to choose to give Yoshi, Tang Shen, and Karai back the lives they would have otherwise lived, but the Turtles are needed in the world. Maybe though we'd see them struggle with wanting to save her but knowing they just can't.

If anything, I could see them saving Karai from Shredder after Yoshi has left Japan. Save her and leave her on the doorstep of her other relatives, that way she grows up safe and everything that has happened to her now will be erased. (Instant mind control/snake cure.) Shredder's beef with Yoshi would remain intact so Yoshi still has reason to leave for NYC.

(Come to think of it... Arrogant, unforgiving, and impatient, Shredder just doesn't seem like the fatherly sort who'd handle a kid easily. I kinda want to see him trying to deal with a screaming baby at 2am. )

Loved this episode. Renet was great, not so clumsy. Mikey crush on her was cute. I like when the Turtles fight Savanti Romero and against those skeleton army. I can't wait for the next episode when the boys are in Japan.

The forest/woods at the beginning was the same set from the Northampton episodes. You can tell they're trying to get their money's worth of making that forest by putting it in so many episodes.

Renet is absolutely perfect, probably my favorite version of the character, now. Savanti was handled well too, though I've never cared much for him. Still gets me hype to see Mirage stuff used & embraced by new fans, though! Nice to see some new sets & random character models, skeleton grunts, horses, knights, etc, adds a bit of flavor. Coulda done without the LARP costumes (just because I feel like it was done at Playmates' insistence rather than it being an organic creative decision, though I could definitely see it being one just the same AND I do like Raph/Leo's outfits... ) but all in all it was good. Dug how they handled Mikey's crush. I really look forward to seeing what comes of the turtles being lost in time, Tales Of The Yokai may very well be the best episode of season 3 so far. Looks ridiculously cool.
