As soon as I saw Mikey roll out in the grasskicker, it made me think of the old school cheapskate toy! Anyone else think it looked similar?

Good episode, liked the new plant monster design, better then the two that combined to create it. Also much better interaction with April and the turtles.

Are you referring to the shelf where The Creep's jar used to be?

Donnie's Trophy shelf reminds me of Splinter's Trophy shelf from the 2007 movie.

More the Creep himself, alongside Snakeweed (or more accurately a clone of Snakeweed).

I don't understand why they didn't actually use Snakeweed himself rather than a clone. Its not like Snakeweed has a story or personality going, they could have just combined him with The Creep and been done with him.

Instead Snakeweed is still at large but nothing changes with him so it would be the same generic fight over and over.

Maybe it's because they didn't want to kill him off yet and probably use him again later.

The healing mantra should have worked, as both instances were neurotoxins.

But hey, don't ask me. I'm not the one phoning in one episode after another.

Season 3 is definitely going to be the worst season of the entire series. Unless they just all go downhill from here.

Every good (super)hero franchise needs at least ONE good plant-based villian.

I intentionally steered clear of Dr. Pamela Isley.

This is coming from a guy who got angry over the time travel paradox in the Yokai episode because you don't get how time travel works?

If that's the worst problem you have with the episode I fail to see how they phoned in the episode.

The highlight was most definitely Dumb Donnie. Everything he did was hilarious and stuff I'd never thought I'd see Donnie do. What was the Pinky and the Brain reference that some people have said is in the episode and some have said it isn't?
"I like French Fries!!" should have been on that voting thing at the top. I was laughing so hard! Or maybe "Oooo...Squirrellll!"
I just wished Dumb Donnie was the sole conflict of the episode. It was funny, entertaining, and new, so naturally I wanted to see more of it. Because of the Creep/Snakeweed marriage, this Dumb Donnie scenario felt like a wasted idea that could have had so much more laughs. While it was nice to touch up on some old villains (not that I care for them, but the show needs to refresh its memory on the bad guys sometimes), think about what an episode with Dumb Donnie as the sole conflict would be like:
  • The problem could have arose from something besides the default "Mikey Makes a Mistake" trope
  • There would be full detail of Donnie's slow descent as the others rush to cure him before it's too late
  • Tension builds as Donnie goes from merely saying dumb things and being absent-minded to actually becoming a danger to himself, while completely forgetting who his family is
  • A plot twist as Donnie becomes so brain-dead that he starts to attack his family, literally "fighting without thinking"
  • More time for Mikey to create an actual cure, intelligently reading Donnie's notes and taking some guesses, as the others hold back the relentless Donatello
  • A final fight scene with Donnie, with April managing to calm him down with her powers while Mikey administers the cure

Overall, I find that idea much more interesting, with some tweaking. Fillers can and have been great.
A lot of those scenarios would have been cool. I guess that's just not the Nick way. I'm slowly accepting it as fact. I guess IDW comics are giving me what I want so I'm able to let it go.

BTW, am I alone in thinking that no one was really all that concerned over Donnie except maybe Mikey and April. Raph especially didn't seem to care that much. Leo was a close second. I just felt like they were mad and annoyed at Donnie for not staying smart even though he was drugged.

There was a fanfic that I read where Donnie goes insane and begins to drug and do experiments on his brothers thinking that he was doing good things to them. It was scary to think of him losing it. I was hoping just a twist of that fanfic would be in this episode, but alas it was not meant to be.

I thought they were concerned, but they were coming across more as frustrated because the only person who possibly could have known what could be done to help had been reduced to a blithering idiot.

I do agree it would have been better having this be a more serious matter.

A good example of something of this plot line would be that one episode from the Simpson's where Lisa is told that there is a defect in the Simpson DNA that causes stupidity. And Lisa become scared that the same thing is happening to her only to learn at the end that the defect only effects the men of the Simpson family.

So a good way of doing this plot yes have that moment where things are at the beginning such as being distracted by the falling leaf and saying that his mind suddenly went blank. Maybe while talking he can't find certain words to describe something. And then have the fact that his intellect is going is beginning to scare him.

And he unabashedly does admit this to Splinter or April, or maybe Leo.

The idea I came up with would not be a hard episode to write. I guess this episode just wasn't the writers' biggest priority, and maybe they were pressured to include the villains by Playmates. Gosh, I hate Playmates.
I really like my idea, because as Donnie begins to attack his family, he could have been so far gone that he fought more like an animal than a ninja, with no fear of getting hurt himself. The others wouldn't know how to fight that right away and wouldn't want to hurt him.
The more I think about it, the more I'm mad about this episode. It wasn't bad at all, but it's what it could have been that made it less enjoyable.
And maybe at the end of this hypothetical, alternate Dumb Donnie episode, Donatello could have said he could find a way to slightly alter Mikey's cure in order to save Karai, seeing as both of their problems are related to the brain and involved the Brain Worms.

Well, I can forgive it a little because for a while they didn't even know what was up with him and hadn't a clue that he'd gotten any of that stuff on him; only Mikey knew it happened due to his bumbling around the lab, but wouldn't have known it's a bad thing since Donnie wasn't concerned. Plus, well, siblings...doesn't take much to be annoyed at each other and lose patience easily, even when the reasons are understandable; been there, done that.

But I'd have to agree that all should have been concerned when he chugged down the concoction, that Mikey came up with, in front of them. I didn't see anyone running for the meds that induce vomiting out of any concern that he just swallowed a half gallon of something deadly.

I finally was able to watch this episode. I know some felt Mikey was annoying in the beginning, but I actually didn't. Thought it was cute and reminded me of the ep where we first got ICK. I think it's cute in general that Mikey likes hanging around Donnie. For me, it's reminiscent of the Mirage comics, as I was always under the impression that Mikey was close to Donnie and Raph and Donnie was close to Mikey and Leo...so it didn't bother me. Only Mikey's stupidity in season 1 annoyed me. Trying to talk to and keep his bro company doesn't bother me. Seriously, Donnie is fully capable of kicking Mikey out of and banning him from his lab if he didn't want him there. Personally, I think Donnie secretly like his younger bro's company.

I also like how Mikey later was trying to ease the tension and lighten the mood with the Kraangdroid head. Made sense to me. He felt bad about what happened. Truly shows how he's the "heart" of the team, imo.

That aside, this episode was great for me. It was funny, but sucks that there were no Pinky references. Would've been great to hear something similar to "Narf" coming out of Donnie's mouth. I also laughed my head off when Donnie stole Raph and Leo's masks. I want to know how he managed to do that. lol. Ironic how Raph was unmasked in the first Creep ep and how he was for this...even though it was a blink and you miss it moment.

Oh yeah...the Friday 13 junk was fun to catch.

I like how Raph fought a lot this ep. When he took that hit from the Creep, I was like, "Wow Raph". lol

It was interesting seeing April in the Shellraiser at the controls. Good thing she managed to figure it out.

The fight at the end where it was Mikey and Raph, loved it. That's what I liked about the Turtles in Time ep. Those two fighting together.

I like how Mikey managed to save Donnie. I now don't have a problem with the Retromutagen he made in the other ep.

To me, the show is showing that Mikey is a bit like all three of his brothers.

Leo: He's the most skilled (we all know it) as he's the most serious when training. Mikey out-Ninja'd Leo last ep. He can be good when need be.

Raph: He's the aggressive fighter. He doesn't hold back. Mikey has moments where he can be aggressive.

Donnie: He's the brains of the group. To me, the series is inferring that Mikey is smart, but in an instinctive way, hence the antidote he made for Donnie.

I dunno, maybe I'm looking too much into it, but it just seems that way to me...

For many of the reasons people have already mentioned I really loved this episode. It felt sort of like the "old turtles" but it was not in a bad way at all. I found it a refreshing change of pace and it reminded me much of season 1 and 2 of which I very much enjoyed. Not saying I hate season 3, just that I enjoyed 1 and 2 more for the most past overall.

Donnie derp was adorable and i was waiting for a Pinky reference myself... for some reason when he downed Mikey's concoction I was so predicting it was coming in one for or another. Alas, I think that was the only disappointment I had.

Creepweed was awesome, much more my style in character design then the MegaShredder and I found Mikey to be more so an annoying little brother than actually stupid.

Totally missed the mask snatching! I remember the part, but didn't even notice. Now I'll have to re-watch it an pay more attention!
