I was watching Fox News this morning (okay, earlier this afternoon) before I Came to the library to make some print-outs (STILL don't have ink in my printer at home yet, drat it! Ah, well.....), and saw (and taped) a bit on the movie that they ran there. On the little "crawler" thing that goes across the bottom of the screen, it said that TMNT made 25.45 million on its debut weekend, and THEN when the s"tory" came on (short though it was), they said that it made WELL OVER 30 million on its opening weekend. So I'm thinking sequel. Definitely.

And here's hoping that Kevin not only writes it, but directs it, too.

I am LOVIN' this!!! My niece Ashley and I went Friday night to see it, and, like everywhere else that it's been, the Glass Sword Cinema 6 (that's the larger of our two theatres here in town) was PACKED! My brother and other niece went to see "Wild Hogs" (which they said was good), but, from what I could tell, MOST of Friday's ticket sales were for TMNT. The section that it was being shown in was PACKED, to the point that Ash and I wound up sitting in the second row from the front (and it's a good thing that I saved her a seat next to mine, or she would've wound up sitting on Aunt Wolfie's lap, or I would've wound up sitting on the floor NEXT to her!)! And when I looked around a couple of times, I noticed that folks were not only sitting on any available space on the floor, there was standing room only along the walls! And this at $7.00 for an adult admission and $5.00 for kids and seniors!

Not only THAT, when the 7 PM showing was over and we left the theatre building, people we lined up clear to a fence next door to the building, and that was like, oh, 200 or 300 yards AWAY form the front door! And MOST floks that I overheard talking about which of the six movies that they were going to see said, "The Turtles' one" (or a variation of that). Which is good.

Also, ANY non-R-rated movie (like TMNT) usually winds up going to our OTHER theatre here (it's called "Family Theatre, hence their "no R-rated movies" rule) about a month (or thereabouts) AFTER it finishes its runs at the Glass Sword. (They go STRAIGHT to it, actually.) So, as you can guess, Ash and I ALREADY have another TMNT movie-watchin' date. And even better, the ticket price in better. Just $4.00 for an adult ticket (don't know WHAT a kid's ticket runs, but I'll find out soon enough.). so I figure that, once itgets there, they might make a bit more money for it.

And I am DEFINITELY getting the DVD when it's released. I think between Mirage, 4Kids, Funimation, LionsGate and Warner Bros., my wallet is going to be in terminally EMPTY mode for some time to come.

And Speaking of the DVD, I hope the release date IS July 10th. It's my bro's birthday (I told him that, and he playfully rolled his eyes, grinned at me, and said, "Yippeee.

), and the 7th (which I wouldn't usually care about a TMNT DVD release date) is the date that my much-beloved Aunt Floss passed away last year. Still, SHE would want me to get it, as it would make a sad day kinda happy for me. So, while I'lll be getting it anyway, I'll do it in her memory.

Now, if my darned Wal-Mart will just cooperate, and get it in on the RELEASE date, and NOT when THEY want to. HATE that!!!

Great news!

It's also worth noting that TMNT's opening weekend did pretty much exactly as well as the first movie in 1990. Here's a list of the all-time top March openings - they're only about $50,000 apart. The 1990 movie went on to make $135 million domestic. So if TMNT has the same legs in the long run, we should be seeing our sequel.

I was worried, because Friday Night, The Turtles were stuck in the small screen, and THHE were in the monster one.

But yesterday, I went to see the Turtles again, and guess what, THHE is now stuck in the little screen and the Turtles took it's place in the monster one!

HAHA, The Mutant Turtles kicked the asses of those inbred red necks!

I hope that means they already green lit a sequel.

The Hills Have Eyes 2. Horror movie about a group of soldiers who encounter a bunch of mutated cannibals in the desert. The first one blew chunks, so I'm not entirely surprised by its abysmal showing in theatres.

there was a doubt in my mind because of how crapy the promotion for the movie was half the people I knew didn't even know there was a new tmnt movie coming out untill I started promoting it all over myspace.
Warner bros or whomever does the next movie really needs to promote the next one allot more in advance next time.
I think with the proffits they made on this one they will though either that or they wher ejust being cocky and thought tmnt would do great reguardless because of the property its self.
Anyways I'm super happy it did so well!

Phase two now begins. Bring in $100 million or so. Soon as possible would be nice.

Phase three...whatever else is needed for a sequel!

THHE two is also being released by New Line, isn't it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Kevin and co go to them to produce the new Turtles, and they thought the franchise was dead.

Okay, thankies, guys. I HAVE heard of it, but I SERIOUSLY doubt that I'll ever go see it. Not into horror movie all that much. I mean, WHAT does it say of a gal who got scared (back in my WAY younger days (I was about 9, I think)) by the Don Knotts movie, "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken"?!
