Yes, but if Peter were to create a product that we as fans do not purchase, then he can't produce more...it's a cycle. Yes we have a self-inflated sence of worth, but so does Laird in a way. It goes both ways.

Seriously, though, if you're referring to Ultimate Ninja Turtles, the plan is to make it clear that it is a not-for-profit fan-derived work that has no intensions of replacing any canon work. It just happens to utilize canon characters. If Peter wanted to call a halt to the project, he'd be well within his right to do so. All he'd have to do is ask. Though yeah, I hope a lawsuit wouldn't accompany the request....

Regarding whether or not Laird should post here, I suppose that's up to him. He'd be more than welcome to post here, but with the understanding that he has as much right to his opinions about the Turtles as anyone else here. Sure, he co-created the TMNT and he has media control over them, but what he doesn't (and shouldn't) have control over is the versions of the characters that exist in our heads, shaped by our individual worldviews and opinions. As long as he understands that, and understands that some of us happen to prefer incarnations of the TMNT that he personally dislikes and that doesn't make US wrong, then yeah, I'd love to see him on the board and ask him questions.

I'd read several issues of the vol. 4 comic, and eventually I got tired of the persona he was presenting on the letter columns, as if he had difficulty entertaining opinions he didn't share. I'm not going to suggest that he's really this way, just that it was the impression I got of him while reading it, for better or worse. Maybe his disdain for answering the same touchy subjects over and over again translate on the page more than the respect he has for his fans; who knows. I've never met him, and I bear the guy no ill will; it's just that I wasn't a fan of the chip he seemed to have on his shoulder in the lettercol, and after several issues of seeing "if you don't like it, don't read it," I asked myself why I was still reading. The comic is no longer on my pull list (though Tales of the TMNT still is), but I don't have anything personal against Peter himself.

I suppose if Peter does start posting on the board, I'll neither flame him nor kiss his booty. I'll just treat him the same way I treat anyone else on the board: agree and disagree with this points where appropriate, and debate those points in a respectful manner. I'd treat him as an equal, all the while attempting to make it clear how much of a positive impact his characters have had on my life.

After all the s*it dumped on him in his letters pages, the bias against Lawson here etc, and god knows what else, I'd want Laird to basically tear into anyone who looks at him funny, but that would'nt be professional

I want him to post, but the fandom has made it difficult

I have and I found him to be a very polite, intelligent man, who was extremely nice to me. Did I kiss his ass?? Not to my knowledge, I mean I was polite and I treated him with respect but I try to do that with everyone until they give me a reason not to.

Not that I am certain it matters to a soul here but I don't agree with the general nature of this thread. Its petty and insulting for the most part. I have no issues with anyone here having problems with the way the comic is written, or drawn and wishing to express your view points about this, but this has degraded into name calling. Frankly its immature and honestly I could see sometimes why Peter laid into people who wrote to the comic. Just because someone is your fan doesn't mean you have to take being treated like dirt by them.

I respect Peter Laird. And until he personally does something to me to make me not to, I will continue to.

And honestly for everyone harping on him I think there are a few people here that could grow up and learn to handle there opinions and temper more maturely before they start demanding that other people do.

Kool, finally a chime in from somebody who has met the man. You have to admit though Peter doesn't come in such a positive light if you read some of the vol. 4 letters, however as I stated in my previous post I wouldn't really judge the guy to much based on some responses to letters. I'm really glad that peter is around though, I mean the turtles were kind of dying off at the end of the 90's. The image series comic book had been cancelled in '99, the next mutation show had been axed. I was worried that I wouldn't get to see my precious turtles in cartoon or comic book form for a long while. In 2001 though the comic book came back and I was ecstatic, and the new show in 2003 unbelievable. I didn't think I would be such a huge fan of that 2k3 series when it came out, but in captivated me fully, I actually like it more than the old toon.

Anywho, I guess what I'm getting at is, I'm glad Peter Laird is around, and I respect the man. I didn't state this clearly in my previous post, but I really would love to have Peter here to answer some questions.

Also, some of the idiotic things people have been saying in this thread is a key reason why Laird probably isn't going to post here any time soon. The immature fights and name calling...it really doesn't help anything. He could be reading this right now and be shaking his head. Or laughing at some of the immature comments being thrown at him. The people who bash the guy aren't really helping matters either. It's pretty much the equivalent to walking up to someone you have seen around in the city and then shouting insults at them. I don't think I would have the patience to talk to people about my art. Because it's my art, and if you have nitpicks, I really don't need to hear it. It's art. If it were interactive, like with a rock band, that's different. Peter Laird is not a rock band (maybe I should rename my band... ).

Basically what I'm saying is if I were him, I totally wouldn't post here.

My personality is a heck of a lot like the Laird's, so far as I can see. So maybe that's my bias.

It would be great if he posted here, but i can understand why he doesn't make himself known. Because of his significance the questions would go on forever, and after the elation of him making his presence here dies down, it might bog down in arguments or squabbles, and people trying to dictate him what to do next for the franchise. He doesn't need that. He might be posting anomynously to feel like a normal person and get tips and hints from others and nothing else more he wants!

He'd join this place many moons ago if he was interested in keeping in touch with the fans. Or maybe he's already joined and is a frequent member under some username that could not be easily associated with him... who knows?
