Just finished Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King, very enjoyable short story. Going to start Skeleton Crew by King next, then I guess I'll jump back into the Dark Tower series...

haha! I just finished Cycle of The Werewolf too. Better half and I are about half way through Skeleton Crew. School gets in the way of horror story time. Very sad.

Lol, my problem is about the only time I get to read is right before bed so I tend to fall asleep after just a few pages... I've been exhausted lately so that tiny Cycle of the Werewolf took me almost a week to read... Pathetic!

Currently re-reading The Witches by Roald Dahl - it seems a lot scarier to me as an adult than it was as a kid!

Oh hey, that's happeneing to me too. Took me about a week. We've been trying to birthday shop for my fiancee's dad most evenings, and he's the type of guy who has difficulty telling people what he wants. I've only been able to read before falling asleep here too.

Penny, never knew he wrote Witches. I'll have to check this one out at some point. Sounds like a nice October read.

I'm terrible when it comes to reading novels because I'll start on a book...and never finish it until later.
Books for me to finish reading are Eldest and Dragons of a Fallen Sun.
So far I've managed to read a few books that I checked out from a public library and I've read a few pages of Young Frankenstein and A Christmas Carol.

I usually feel the pull of the Tower once in a while, think I've read them through 3 times now, and it never gets easier. Love them books, but man, oh the feels.

Roald Dahl and Enid Blyton were my favourites when I was a kid. The Witches is great, and the movie is pretty awesome too.

Right now I've just started All Dark, No Stars by Stephen King. Read it when it first came out what, four years ago? Already finished the first story and 3/4 way through the second... As usual, classic King! After I'm done with this, might have to crack open Skeleton Crew again!

Hey DT, don't forget about that new King novel due out in Nov. Revival, isn't it? Wait, you were the one who brought that to our attention, I think. Yeah, I remember reading No Stars when it was first released. Pretty great novelas in that one.

As for me, I tried starting this Friday the 13th novel called Hell Lake the other day. Not that interesting, so I think I'll put it away for now. After finishing Skeleton Crew, my better half and I plan on reading Nightmares and Dreamscapes. Love reading scary short stories in October. Thinking about trying some book called The Gate by a horror author named Jason Brant. The info from the book jacket sounded interesting. There's a new Star Wars novel called Tarkin due out in Nov which will occupy some downtime.

I'm currently reading a great book that my kid sis got for me as a gift - it's called Bad Girls & Wicked Women, by Jan Stradling and is a book on 22 women throughout history who defied social convention at the time (for a variety of reasons).

It covers Madame Mao, Cleopatra VII, Messalina, Boudica, Malinali, Mary I of England, Elizabeth Bathory, Catherine II of Russia, Ranavalona, Shi Xianggu, Mary Ann Cotton, Cixi, Belle Starr, Amy Bock, Mary Mallon, Chicago May, Mata Hari, Tilly Devine, Georgia Tann, Imelda Marcos, Leila Khaled and Phoolan Devi.

It's a really interesting read, I'm learning a lot!

Recently read and re-read "The Best In The World (At What, I Have No Idea)" by Chris Jericho. His last book, "Undisputed", was better, but this one is actually longer and has a lot of great stories of its own. Highly recommended, although at times it can seem more like a Bonus Extension of the last book. A common problem when people who are barely 40 are on their third autobiography.

Picked it up at a book signing he did in Ridgewood a couple weeks ago. Awesome guy, great to meet him.

I'm a big fan of Flawed Batman, who makes mistakes, even huge ones, and learns from them. You see it more in those "early"-set stories. But just because he's gotten more experienced over time, I enjoy when he's shown as less than perfect. Guy's judgment isn't exactly the most sound, at times. That story is a good building experience for him. I really dig it.

Agreed. When Batman is portrayed "NUH UH HE CAN BEAT ANYONE BECUZ HE BATMAN LOLXD" it's pretty bad.

I'm also reading Spider-Man: Learning To Crawl. I've only bought the first two issues so far and it's a great story.
