awesome for that movie.

good for that shredder.

that movie already already exists, though...

THIS isn't THAT.

The look of Shredder in the new TMNT movie is one of the few things I sympathize with all sides on. He does look pretty silly and extreme in the couple seconds of the teaser we've seen. On the other hand this is a live action movie and we haven't had a chance to see Shredder in real action. Super Shredder was barely able to move in Secret of the Ooze, but this is 2014 and we've come a long way in special effects. We may find that this version of Shredder looks bad-A in action.

Yes. And we could have had a Shredder that looked like this

Spoiler:

Or even remotely similar to this and, with today's effects and choreography, still could have looked totally badass and NOT be in a ridiculous bladed from head to toe mech suit.

yeah but it also depends on the general tone. maybe a simpler, toned-down shredder wouldnt work as well against these giant-ass wwe tmnt.

I always thought that IDW Shredder's costume would work perfectly in live action. I wish we could have gotten something along the lines of this design.

Which brings it back to maybe the Turtles shouldn't be that big.

A slim, ninja-like Turtle that's around 5'-5'3" at their tallest fighting THAT Shredder on the big screen, flipping around in great effects and choreography would be a dream come true.

And the fact that he's wearing so little armor speaks VOLUMES on his confidence in his skills.

I'm not shifting any of my views. Again there's a difference between a simple symbol presented in a professional looking style and something which looks like graffiti. One is simple, the other is crude...or rather supposed to look crude. I get that it's intentional but I don't agree it's the best way to sell the movie.

Also why do you say I am conducting a smear campaign? What possible incentive could I have to do that. It seems paranoid, isn't it more likely that I just flat out don't like a lot of stuff to do with this movie and aren't shy on voicing my opinion?
Well I wasn't only referring to only you.. I was referring to the "mood" as a whole.
and the rest of what you said.. Stop flattering yourself would ya. I don't have to counter anything I feel will end up in the same stalemate over and over.. Doesn't make me any less intelligent.. it's all observational. If it wasn't "crude" it'd be something else and that would be a problem. That's my point.
Yea.. we get it.. you don't like it. Please don't start with the opinion stuff.. no one said that you weren't allowed to voice your opinion.

That would make sense if Shredder in this film turns out to be similar to the Shredder in the IDW continuity. My only point is that before we argue we should keep an open mind until we know more. We don't know where the story is going to go in this film. For all we know it could be Shredder's spirit driving a mech suit (this is why I'm not the writer ) and how silly would that look to have Spirit Shredder driving an IDW looking Shredder.

Uh...he doesn't have to have the same characterization as IDW Shredder to look or look similar to IDW Shredder.

We already knew what the turtles were gonna look like. If we got a carbon copy of the 1990 Michael Jackson Shredder, we'd all be wondering how he could stand up against the turtles.

Do you want an apology? I was making a joke and assumed that it had been an autocorrect mistake. I never said you didn't know how the word was spelled or meant for it to be personal.

So...because we had that in the 90's (and some would argue that we've never had a truly Mirage comics based movie... *waits for Andrew) now we need some sort of bombastic, Michael Bay infused throwback to 90's "X-TREME!!!" brainless action schlock?

Yep. And at one point we had a Bane that said "BAAAANE" over and over again and a Spider-Man that danced like he was in Saturday Night Fever.

Imagine 1990 Shredder(minus the maroon jumpsuit) with today's effects.

Haven't seen that in live action yet.

THAT is Shredder.

This. Part of the reason I zoned out of TMNT for a while was because of how repetitive it became! I'm glad Nickelodeon is doing something different with the franchise while still attaining the original essence of the story even if some people can't see it with their nostalgia-goggles.

Sure you don't have to come up with counter points to any of my opinions but considering this a discussion board about the new movie and you keep responding to my posts then wouldn't it better to actually discuss the points at hand as opposed to the vaguely hostile responses?
