I don't see what the fuss was about. It was all fairly standard sci-fi fair. The main cast meets, they get locked in a prison, they have to stop the one-dimensional villain from getting the dues ex plot device, we have some spaceship battles, and that's the movie.

It was the few character beats and humor that saved the film, but it wasn't enough. There wasn't as much chemistry between the cast as I would have liked, I liked the blue adopted father (?) the most in the film. It wasn't a bad movie, just a fairly average one with a few funny moments.

I agree that the characters are the main reason for the push, while the rest of the movie is generic. But, I do think the introduction of the characters was adequate for the first movie of the series. If they did explore more deeper into the characters, the movie would play out as a more boring drama, than an action/adventure movie. I think it was a nice balance. But, the next movies should delve into something more complex, like what you're describing.

This movie series has hope, not like the new Spiderman and new Turtle movies. Also, the "awesome mixtape" is great.

Wow, it's 20 million shy of 300 million, and there were people who thought it wouldn't clear 100 million.

Since I haven't posted my thoughts yet, I'll do it now. I semi agree with Cubed' on this one. I didn't think the film was anywhere near as good as people make it out to be. It does have some good lines here and there, but overall I didn't like it very much. It's not bad, but IMO it's not very memorable.

It's great, glad to see a new property do so well. Loved the film, one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in a movie theater in a long time.

Kudos to Chris Pratt for visiting that children's hospital. So awesome. And that dancing Groot looks awesome.

Looks like GOTG will be number one now for 4 weekends straight! It's the best reign at the box office for the year so far! It might even go past the first Ironman in domestic.

Really, REALLY liked the characters and although the plot was average it was put together in a really sassy way. Loved the jokes all the way through. Pelvic sorcery is my new catchphrase.
