Yes, it's been posted. No, it's not likely that it'll be that complicated. Otherwise we'd all have to ask if "Cowboys and Aliens" was about space aliens, strange people, or foreigners. Let's just not get into semantics and instead focus on the theory that Bay is doing another misinformation campaign like he did with the second Transformers.

No disrespect to anyone, though, but all the movie news and comic fan sites and so forth that are reporting are all visited (and probably run) by fanboys, so of course they're all going to be up in arms about it. Basically, the fact that the web is "up in arms" over the news doesn't really mean much. When it was announced that Optimus Prime was going to have flames the web was up in arms. Didn't matter.

More than likely it is a misinformation campaign like he has been known to do, I mean the internet is buzzing about this so it has definitely gone viral, there is no arguing that... It's just amazing how people are going ape **** over this...

The thing is, he didn't say that they'll be an alien race... he said that they'll be "from an alien race". Meaning that there's more than four turtles out there.

To be fair I don't think this is necessarily true. Adding flames to a design is much different than revamping an entire origin that has 25+ years under its belt.

I'm glad that it isn't just this forum that is upset about this news - even the TMNT Facebook page (the "official" one via Nick) is sh*tting all over this entire concept, and most of those people on there are dim-wit casuals. If enough fans speak out, it might be changed or AT LEAST clarified.

But no, seriously, as I've stated elsewhere I wouldn't grind too much of an axe about Krang in a TMNT movie if he wasn't played for laughs or camp. I mean, a TMNT movie where the citizens go out, look up, and down floats this enormous alien spaceship (the Technodrome), sending down speeders with Rock Soldiers to incapacitate our defenses and subjugate our world by the legions... the Independence Day-sort of visuals that could come from that, that kind of appeals to me.

But I'm not so sure that sort of thing is what's going on here. It's already sounding like an unmitigated toy fiesta.
