Playmates is confused.
I think they sold a lot of those battle gear turtles because there was more articulation and they think that everyone liked the "gear".
There's the mini fighting gear turtles, the deluxe fighting gear turtles, and now I guess they're repainting the fighting gear turtles in the U.K. and in the U.S.A. again. They also haven't gotten it through their head that the hand articulation SUCKS. Now they're putting hand articulation in all their tmnt variants but they don't even bother to put in elbow joints? We should start up a friendly petition, and I know petitions don't normally work, but because this is so obscure they'll be like "People want elbow articulation instead of hand?" and then they'll at least have it in their heads for when they design the new variants. TMNTGal is a genius though, those little clear plastic rubberbands really do work, but someone shouldn't have to go out and find plastic-bands (or swipe them from a newly opened toy) just to get their leonardo to hold his swords or something. |

Heheheheheh... I'm actually looking forward to those RePaints. I love the camo styling. I may be the only one who likes these.

I thought the camo were U.K. only? Well I guess that's not so bad, cuz at least they look cool and the kids won't be getting ripped off too much for buying the same figures again. Those giant figures really ticked me off though, it's the same giant figure under some crappy added on armor. Oh well. It's just I remember playmates saying that the tmnt variants weren't going to be really stupid, and the scuba turtles just broke that promise (as well as the space turtles and the extreme sports turtles) Although, as a kid I used to love all the weird tmnt variants they made, the turtles were some of the characters that you loved no matter what, so it wouldn't have mattered if they made troll turtles, as long as they were the turtles, you loved em. I guess I should just accept that they're going to make weirdo variants again.
Haha, my favorite old school weirdo variant is savage leonardo, where he's a blatant rip off of conan the barbarian. Edit: Cbq not sure if you collect aliens/predator figures, but I saw 2 new ones at suncoast yesterday. |

Man I hear you. I've been wanting the TMNT figs to have elbow and knee articulation since I first got Donatello back in '87 or '88.

Heh...I read this topic and got a really funny mental image of a bunch of girls in bunny outfits running around with a [censored] and not knowing what to do with it.
What's that? Children read this board? Um...move along. Oh, and to add insult to injury, the Gear on the 12" Fightin' Gear figures isn't removable.

I think the hand articulation would work if it had a spring loaded mechanism that would actually clasp the fist hard and actually hold the weapons. Just i like the articulation as it allows Mikey to hold his both nunchuku handles in each fist when he's not swinging them. But if it were a choice between hand articulation and elbow articulation the elbow option gets my vote. Also I wish they'd use that swivel joint on the shoulders with "ALL" figures. I absoulutely detest that the Foot tech ninja's have such shoddy arm movements. And why don't any of the new figures have that ball socket joint in the legs that most older figures had? That was a really great feature that allowed compatibility with most vintage vehicles, most non-turtle figures look really awkward when using any form of transportation in the new line.

I agreeee
I could have almost liked the fighting gear variant if it weren't for the articulated fingers, toes and lack of movement in the legs! A ninja that can't move his leg forward or backward is.....umm...ebil! the articulation in the knees was a step in the right direction at least. I'm not too fond of the foot soliders either... getting them to stand up is very difficult

In the end, it's like any kids' toy line. I saw a green Venom a little while back, in the Spider-Man figures. I sure as hell wouldn't pay for that, but little kids would probably think it looked cool. The kids can buy the Extreme Sports toys with the goofy bright clothes, and 'grown-ups' like me can keep an eye out for Fugitoid and the Utroms. That way, all the toys get sold, and Playmates keeps more of 'em comin' for the fangeeks.

Hey, has anyone tried to pull the hands out of the original and Fighting Gear figures and switch them? The finger joints are too loose to properly hold the weapons, but the original hands were sculpted pretty much perfectly. The hands are pretty much the only weak point on the Fighting Gear sculpts, and I've thought about switching the hands, but I'm worried that I'll end up breaking them trying to pop them out.
Just an idea, anyway...

somebody already posted a way to take off the hands of the FG figures and replace them with the regular hands, but that was some time ago so you'll have to search for a bit

Right on! I found the thread after a few minutes of searching (http://www.thetechnodrome.com/forums...pic.php?t=8424), and I think I'll try it out later on.
Thanks!

Well, not to revive a dead topic but upon further inspection of the picture of the Leo Versus T-Rex I think that I believe that the Leo Versus T-Rex set comes with a mix breed of TMNt figure as it have the regular hands from an average Leo, but body and chest armor of Fighting Gear Leo.

No, it's the exact same as the fighting gear turtle. You can tell it's the fighting gear turtle's head because the head is flat at the top (because of the helmet) instead of round.

i wouldn't say they don't realize it, it's just that they can make more money that way. to many kids, it's a competly new toy.
and as for the articulsation. elbows should come, hands should go
