season 11

I read the reviews for Divide and conquer (an ep I really want to see since I hear they have the technodrome again) and was that ep intended to be the last ep? The reveiws said splinter says he is longer their sensi and that dregg gets sent to dimension X with Krang's andriod.

What do you thing they would have if they had season 11.

I would'nt have bothered watching it, ten years was enough for the original series, it had gone as far as it should have been by season 7.

It wasn't meant to be the end, the series was cancelled because CBS wanted a more "educational" saturday morning line up.

how could it have not been the end if splinter says he is not their sensi anymore (I never saw this but heard that splinter said that) and dregg was sent to dimension X with krang's body (thread messages said that dregg was apparently destroyed with the andriod body) how much further could the series have gotten? I mean the turtles were loosing steam in 1992 (the hieght of the turtles was in 1989 and 1990) and the last season was in fall 1996, meaning the last season was way past the waining days. WEre plans announced for seasons 11 and beyond. AGain what more could they do, the technodrome was destroyed, shredder and krang were in dimension X everything. the last ep did seem like the end to me.

Well it did end obviously since it no new episodes are being made. But they would live on even if Splinter had no more to teach them. It's not like it would be the end of their lives or anything.

I don't know if they made the ending at the last minute or not. Maybe while making the finale episodes they were told it would be cancelled so they changed the storyline. Or maybe they planned to make more episodes with the turles moving on (Splinter could have still been in the show though). At least the ending of the show was decent. A lot of cartoons end abruptly with no real ending.

But season 10 was an appropriate ending since the red sky thing seemed to have failed to recapture the turtles thing and dregg and shredder were vanquished and how could splinter still be in the show if he had no more to teach them. SEason 10 was a good place to end, especially since it was 4 years after the interesting in turtles was waining.

I agree with Zarius, that the series lost its steam after the 7th season. If anything, 1994 shoulda been the final year and Splinter would've delivered that same speech about no longer being their mentor.

I can just picture a spinoff with Splinter retiring and moving to the Florida swamps where the Punk Frogs live.

That is right 1994 should have been, since I heard that was when the technodrome gets sucked in the plant pit and that being the last of krang shredder being in the regular cast. I agree and they did not need anything past turtle trek (I only know what happened because I read the synopsises), since the eps after were worlds apart (no vernon, irma, channel 6, burne, cameos like Rat King and casey jones etc, shredder, krang, bebop, rocksteady, traag) from the beginning (I know this from what I saw on the bonus episodes in the DVD). I agree they should have had splinter say that him saying there is no more he can teach them should have been in that ep (in 1994).

Note I corrected the 1st sentence since I accidentally said lava pit, the lava pit was in the end of 1988 and I had seen that one (return of the technodrome) many many many times. I ment to say plant pit.

It was a near rip off of the Sarlac Pit from "Return of the Jedi", it had nothing to do with lava.

When did CBS decide to turn the saturday mornings into educational programing. Where they planning on going past season 10 and did they change the last ep of season 10 at the last minute to make it look like a good ep. I agree with a post here. It is good to have a geniune ending instead of have the last ep with no ending, that is my pet peave of tv shows.

I think by 1996 it was time for turtles to go since it lost steam 4 years before that and they made things wrose by dumping shredder and I heard that 4 eps did not air in most markets. It seems that CBS was ready to dump the show if half the eps in season 10 didn't make it to most areas, and in other seasons was it that way of some eps not airing in all markets.

Why did CBS want to change to educational programing.

The government is always passing laws to force stations to make childrens' programming more educational, but that wasn't really a main factor in the end of the old TMNT anyway. TMNT had lost its hold on the public, and it was becoming unprofitable. It wasn't just four episodes of the last season that didn't air in all markets, but ALL EIGHT episodes.

I did not realize that all 8 eps didn't in air in markets. I can tell that the turtles was loosing their hold to the public because in 1992 I, like most people, lost interest, and in 1993 the series moved to usa cartoon express( which is where the now former popular tv shows go), It seemed that in the 1992-1993 the show was being unprofitable and by 1996 it must have become super unprofitable and the reviviing the show with the red sky thing didn't work, so what was the use in keeping the show. Those markets shoud not have not aired the 8 eps of season 10 because I heard that was when they had shredder and krang again and the technodrome and dimension X again.

Well like I said it was a decent ending. About Splinter still being in the show if it did go beyond season 10. They were like family so just because he had no more to teach them doesn't mean they would never see him again. Maybe he wouldn't have been in every episode. But I guess it is pointless to speculate since there will never be a season 11.

Actually the red sky concept did work. If it hadn't then there wouldn't have been a season 9 or 10 because season 8 was a desperate attempt to save the show. Throughout seasons 8-10 the show actually did get pretty good ratings.

The reason why I say the red sky concept did not work is because they threw out shredder and everyone was mad at it. I would have been, and one posting in this discussion said the show was becoming unprofitable. The last 2 seasons of red sky was worlds apart from the old episodes (no vernon, irma, burne, reoccuring characters like baxter, casey, rat king etc, no shredder, krang, bebop, rocksteady and technodrome, but shredder and krang were just cameos in season 10 from what I heard and I heard season 10 had the technodrome and dimension X). Red sky just isn't the turtles I remember, with almost no humor and no pizza. But I cannot understand why 4 eps of the 8 in season 10 did not air in some markets.

But would they have had the show go into 2000 if they could.

Yeah, I never liked it much either but what I meant was that it saved the show from being discontinued due to bad ratings and lack of profit.
