The Official Technodrome Convention/Get-together thread

Greetings All!

Well, a few days ago, Their was serious discussion about a get together for the members of the Technodrome. And was surprisingly met with great approval!

Now, this would not be limited to Only members in the US (as we’re the most abundant ones). ALL Technodrome members would be invited to this international event!

Now, if you're reading this and thinking, “Hey, I wanna go!”, you have some things to do first. Obviously there’s much work to be done about time, location, size and so on. The first thing we ask you to do if you ARE serious about participating (any insults and/or flaming will be deleted), please fill out the questionarre below. For those of you who replied on the Gdrome, you might want to copy/paste, but be careful because some of the questions have been edited.

THE OFFICIAL(kinda) Questionarre

1. Where do you live? (We do understand we have international members, but the get-together would be based in the states, if only b/c most of us live here.)

2. Do you have a car?

3. If so, would you be willing to carpool with others who paid your gas money?

4. If so, would you be willing to pick people up from the airport nearest to whereever we DO go? ((again, there'd be help with gas.))

5. How much $$ would you be willing to put towards a weekend get-together?

6. Do you have a PRIVATE residence (non-hotel) where a large group of people (25-50) can stay the weekend? ((this would save on hotel fare....but we'd all be sleeping on the floor or in tents outside and sharing 2 bathrooms... b/c people just don't HAVE houses that huge.))

7. If so, are you near any airports?

8. Would you be adverse to inviting OTHER Tmnt fan-groups? ((the more people we have, the smaller portion of expenses we'd all have to pay... AND we know there's more than just the people here that you're dying to meet from the fandom.))

9. If so, which groups?

10. If there are multiple people in one area, would you be willing to put SOME people ((who could not afford the hotel)) up in your own home?

11. Do you have computer equipment/Tv/Gaming systems that you would be willing to bring for the weekend?

12. What month is best for travelling for you?

13. If this happens in reasonable seasons, how many would be open to some kind of camping arrangement? ((Sometimes on the off seasons: spring or fall, summer camps will rent their grounds... potentially CHEAPER than the hotel... main lodge for video games, sleeping in bedrolls in cabins... one HUGE kitchen for feeding us... and lots of woods/campfires/hiking/smacking nerds with pine-cones.))

14. are you of legal drinking age? ((just checkin on this one, b/c if we get REALLY young ones, this may have to be a dry event ...))

15. Do you have any special needs? ((wheelchair access... deathly allergic to nature or peanuts or pets or something... you know. stuff that would keep you from travelling/attending if you knew we couldn't cater to you))

16. Would you be willing to work 'behind the scenes'?

17. If so, what are your skills? cooking? handling money? arranging places for us to STAY? driving? setting up the techie gear? have 'contacts' with people in the industry? juggle? anything else?

18. Could you attend a friday night to sunday morning event?

19. If you most people could not attend during Summer2005, would you recommend doing it in Summer 2006? ((this allows people more time to make money, organize things, finish school for some, and generally give us less stress))

20. Last, but not least, would you rather have a small group, around 20 give or take, or something large, like up to 60 people?

Once you’ve filled this out and posted it, we’ll slap your name onto Damnhooligan’s Technodromer Map of Members

After this, then you can help in scouting out locations, times, transportation, and events to happen during the… event. Some Ideas have been:

*Coming dressed as your online persona
*Tmnt swap meet
*BBQ
*doing the get-together outdoors (I.e. campgrounds, beach, someone’s backyard, etc)
*Gamers’ competitions
*TMNT Marathon (over 6 HOURS of TMNT Movies!)
*Talent show/Stupid human tricks/Impressions contests
*Getting musical members together and performing (would include karaoke)
*Inviting Eastman/Laird for signings
*Readings of Entertaining threads (Gay doom quotes, anyone?)

Some important things we have been discussing are
*fundraising for hotel rentals
*sponsorships to help those who can’t afford too much (i.e. westcoasters and Internationals trying to get to the Eastcoast)
*presence of Alcohol
*if a family comes, in what way do we accommodate them?
*ways to make money for payments at the actual event (i.e. face-painting, caricatures)

We’ll be forming committees to do location scouting, price checks, member checks, fundraising and whatnot. So, if you are Seriously interested… Seriously…. Please, answer the above questions, and keep an eye on this thread. Whenever we have something we need to ask the participants, more than likely we’ll put up a poll. We’ll keep records of results and let everyone know how things are going.
