Stupid question about the old April figure...

I know this has probably been addressed MANY times in the past but I couldn't remember the details. What was up with the different versions of April from the old Playmate's lineup? I've seen two of her, BOTH dated 1988...the one I have has an orange and yellow jumpsuit. Last night at Caveman I saw what I think was the rarer one (no weapons just figure). This one just had a yellow jumpsuit....frankly I liked her better than the version I have, she looked cuter IMO.

There were quite a few variation of the first April figure.

I have the following:
No stripe on original card
Blue stripe only on original card (10 back)
Orange and blue with "press" and new head on original card (10 back)
Orange and blue no "press" and new head on original card (10 back)
Orange and blue with "press" on 4 Turtles in Sewer Card
Orange and blue with "press" on 4 Turtles in Sewer Card without name sticker (may just be an error)
KB re-release (orange and blue stripes with "press")

Yea, there were quite a lot of different versions of April in the jumpsuit. Plain yellow, yellow w/ white stripe, yellow w/ blue stripe, orange & yellow, mutatin’ jumpsuit, green, yellow & purple, etc. The one with the orange that you have, I think had a new head sculpt but the body was the same(as the yellow/white stripe/green). That head sculpt on the orange matches the toon more than the other, IMO anyway.

I just got back into collecting some original TMNT stuff again and have the yellow and purple April coming to me. She looks to be the best representation of her overall, her sculpt is my favorite compared to the others.

Woah...thanks for the info. The one I have currently is the middle one you pictured. The one I saw at the store however was the plain yellow jumpsuit (I think)...is that the most rare of them?

What possessed Playmates to make so many different variations?

Yes the First April in plain Yellow jumpsuit is the rarest,I was lucky to get one cheap, and to answer your other question It's kinda the same as why they made so many varients of the Turtles.

So far with this new toyline, only one April has been released and no variant. Speaking of variants; there has not been any variants for figures: such as different color shirt on a figure, or different weapon included. I find it neat when there are different versions of one figure, it makes some more rare and valuable. The old toyline had many variants, such as Ace Duck packed with Hat off or Hat on. Slash with purple belt and yellow belly. NOthing like that in this new toyline. I assume Playmates is Really targeting these toys for kids and cares nothing about us older fans and collectors. It saddens me.

Here's another question on April....I just got the April with the Purple stripe, April 2 and around/under her leg holster, there is like purple blotches of paint. It won't come off either, its like imbedded in the figure. Now, I looked on the net to see if maybe it wasn’t just my figure and from other pics, I actually noticed this was on others as well.

So my question, was this a factory error with all the April’s and/or was this fixed on the second release of her on the non anniversary card? Anyone else here have this on their April as well? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this for me!

You know what I got that figure long ago and it too had the purple "Stain" on her thight, but I though it was just mine so mybe it was some sort of factory error.
