So I'm at work today... (hockey related)
I live in Grande Prairie Alberta with my mom and stepdad and the hockey player has a house by my dad outside of Calgary, so that's an 8 hour drive from there.
Ok here's my day. Go in at 10:45 (we opened at 10) and it is already busy as hell. Im annoyed because a lady bought 2 TV stands, and a CD player, and decided after she paid for them that she didnt want them, so I had to take them all to the opposite end of the store. Then customers start yelling at me because we dont have the lowest prices like we advertise, which I just ignore, and then I have to pull stuff from a top shelf, stack it, and then shrink-wrap it onto a pallette. That's when my supervisor (a huge hockey nut), and here's our conversation: *He pages me on the intercom to call his phone* *I call it* Me: Hey Supervisor: Ian, guess whos in the store? Me: Who? Supervisor: Ryan Smythe Me: Who's that? (I was focussing on work, and didnt expect a hockey player to come into our store) Supervisor: Who's that!? Ryan Smythe from the Oilers... and Team Canada dude! Me: Oooooh yeah, sweet where is he? Sup: He just walked past the restarant (sp?) Me: Cool, i'm gonna go find him *Hang up* So I go walking, searching the whole sports end of the store, as well as hardware, and then go into the main aisle and recognize his hair. He was looking at a rug with his dad I presume, and he turned and asked me how much it was. I don't think he knew that I knew him, but whatever. Then some guy comes up, walks right past me and starts blabbering away about himself. Then Ryan turns to me and asks how much this rug costs, I go and scan it for him, tell him, and offered to fold it up for him. Then I went back into the back and did more work, and went back out and he was looking in toys at the Lego and stuff. Then my supervisor was scared to go up to him and talk to him, so he had someone else. And then he waited by the checkouts for Ryan, and got him to autograph a jersey that they were going to be putting into a raffle, so that was pretty cool. I've met a wrestler through a meet and greet, Ed Belfour through a meet and greet, and met him a few times outside, as he used to work for my dad, and my dad used to play street hockey with him. If you are going to respond with anything like "You liar, this didn't happen" or "You liar, he didnt work for your dad" then don't bother responding. Thanks I'm glad I worked today

GO OILERS! I ran into Mike Grier in 2001, when he still played for the Oilers in some Italian restaurant in Edmonton. All I got was a passing "Whassup?"

That's awesome. I've met a couple hockey players myself. A lady in my building is actually really good friends with Sean Burke, so I met him one time when he helped her move. I also met Manny Legace, who was coached by one of my dad's best friends when he was a kid. I've met a ton of the Maple Leafs, my dad's friend has a cousin or something that works as a massage therapist for them, so he gets us into stuff to meet with them and whoever happens to be in town.
