If you ask me they both look similar and I think Laird is a Gamera fan. I remember a panel or two where Mikey is watching Gamera on TV. This was in a recent issue I cant remember which one.

On the topic of "Vampire" Raph...
Does anyone find it odd that Raph looks like a dinosaur? Why would he look like that if he's supposingly a vampire?
A vampire should technicaly still look like the way they were when they were mortal. Only a few differences would be notible. Vampires have changes such as fangs, pale glossy skin, white nails, and such things like that.
Why did Raph turn into some sort of where-beast?

Another thing... Why is Raph eating? Should he not be drinking blood?

I know there are rare cases that a very few vampires eat the hearts and livers of humans because they believe the blood is most potent in this way... but they can't digest the organs... They eventually get convulsed back out.



This "vampire" Raph seems off to me...

I remember reading somewhere, or being told, that Raphael is not a vampire. In fact, those vampires that bit him possibly weren’t real vampires (Raph does comment on how he's fought vampires before,) but an elaborate alien hate/extermination group. At first I thought he’d turn vampire-ish as well, but then it resembled something closer to werewolfism, ignoring the fact that he’s neither man, nor wolf, but the idea of becoming something more “primitive” fits.

Ever since Raph mutated further I have refered to him as Gameraph since he looks so much like Gamera. I want a Gamera figure just so I can say I have what Raph looks like in the comics.

And yes in Tales 10 the turtles are watching a Gamera marathon...which was really funny.

Oh, definitely. I've seen each Gamera episode of MST3K. Hi-freakin-larious.

Now they just need to come out with a special MST3K Gamera Collection. It'd sell like hot spinning shells with rocket pockets.

Godzilla too, or any Kaiju movies for that matter. The new Gamera movies are pretty decent though I actually enjoyed them because they were entertaining and not just really funny.

yeah he aint a vampire...they said the "vampires" effect on him kicked the mutagen in his blood to further mutate him into that animal. I hate it. He looks corny...a turtle wouldn't look like that..how the hec would his beak/snout totally evolve into something looking like a tyrannosaur, an animal turtles are not related to in any way.


I'll be bummed if he's stuck like that for good. and i wonder...if Kevin was still working on TMNT...would this have gotten this bad?
It just feels like it's gotten sooooooooo far fetched ...i hope it a bad dream of April's or something.

but its a mutagen. its mutates him not evolves him. so its sort of possible that he could mutate into what he looks like.

and i sort of shudder to think what kevin would of done with the turtles if he was still around. i mean his heavymetalwar2000 stuff is just creepy at parts.

I couldn't agree more, Buslady. I don't like the change either.

If they wanted to make Raph a moster, they should have made him look similar to Tokka rather than a T-rex with huge arms and a turtle shell.

In any case, I really want him to change back to normal. He just isn't Raph anymore. It's strange.


Oh, and BartAllen, I'm pretty sure that the mutagen works to hyper evolve creatures through millions of years of evolution in just a few years. The TMNT, Splinter, and Leatherhead became humanoid because it's the ideal form for land creatures. Especially for creatures who live in a man-made environment such as New York City. They change to suit their environment.

Maybe he's going for Raph being the turtles' answer to the Thing? I mean, the guy loves Kirby-- but then, Raph is more of a Godzilla-monster here than a Kirby monster.

Anyway, the equal-but-different thing was working for the turtles. None of them needs superstrength. Especially Raph, the alcoholic.
