Tmnt reissues?
Jephael sent in an image and box text for the reissue of the Technodrome that Playmates Toys released in 1998. I stuck it on the same page as the original Technodrome since we don't have any pages dedicated to the reissues.
Is reissues a remake of old toys? |

In this case, I guess it kinda is. Normally, when you think about re-issues (esp in the TMNT vintage line), you think about the about the time when Playmates was basically packing the old figures exactly as they were on newer cards. For instance, all four turtles from '88 were "re-issued" again in I belive '98 on basic generic cards (unlike the '88 cards which were specifically made for each turtle, these generic cards all look the same for all the reissues: casy jones, shredder, and a ton of others) So if you missed these figures the first time around, 10 years later you could basically pick up those figures again. They were other "re-issues" as well, such as the Ninja Power and 1993 reissues. Again, these follow the same principles of taking the old figures and putting them on "generic" cards.
This Technodrome Scout Vehicle, however, was indeed a remake of sorts in that it was never made back in the vintage days. They actually remade the Technodrome in a much smaller version and distributed it at the same time that they were producing the "reissues" Not sure if this helps, or if its more confusing, but i gave it a shot!! |

^^^ What he said. I remember getting the scout vehicle a LONG time ago. It seems that the scout vehicle and the sewer tubes were reissued for KB toys in a similar box to when they came out (instead of generic packaging). One main difference is the playmates website ad on the box, that's how you know it's a reissue cuz back in the 80's/90's there was no playmates website.

TMNTMan is correct. All the KB reissues have a green warning label on the package so they're easy to tell apart. 98' wasn't the only year Playmates reissued. They reissued many years throughout the toyline. |
