It looks more like a RE-LARP to me, rather than a cosplay.

Some of the costumes are good, some are not. As usual. I don't see what's scary about them.

It scares me that people reenact Resident Evil games. And not only do that but make a huge event out of it. Complete with zombies, a rather lame looking Nemesis*Though for cosplay I guess he's decent*, they turned a few male characters female*Disturbs me there were more Female RE fans there*, they had first aid sprays and herbs O_O, and at the end they all got prizes. It's just scary that people out there do that kinda stuff. I love Devil May Cry but I'm not about to dress up like Dante and reenact levels from the game. Run around with a sword and kill people and pick up little red orbs that they drop. Just freaky to me

You've never been to a LARP, right? Actually that's great fun. I've been at one medieval LARP about a year ago. Two days of fun. But when you just look at it - regular people renacting life of the knights and maidens and stuff - it does seem odd.

What's up with your new Resident Evil obsession? It's getting almost as bad as your DMC one.

It probly is fun if your up to doing it just seems strange to me o_O Medieval stuff seems normal, since it happened and there for renacting it would atleast make some sense. But this is a video game. They used music from the game while they were doing it even. Just weird to me o_O

Now this is getting interesting. So, I agree with you that it's only a game. But, because it's virtual it never happened? If you say that virtual things don't really happen, then this discussion is not happening either, despite the fact that you're actually part of it.

At another (german) board we had a really interesting discussion about this subject.

ooo O_O Well a message board is one thing, video games are another. In a video game if I talk to someone there are limited amounts of responses I can get, if more then just one to begin with. On a message board there are seemingly endless results in what someone can say. I can ask you what color a duck is and you will give an answer I could never guess without pure luck. In a video game my character could ask someone what color a duck is and if I have already played the game I will know the reponse.

On a message board people's opinions can change. You could one day decide a duck is yellow and then the next decide white. In a video game that isn't the case at all. There are limited amounts of responses and limited ammounts of interaction. If I was mad at a video game character, like I wanted to murder him mad, I couldn't try and find out where it lived and go to it's house. On a message board you could, good luck with it, but if you wanted to you could try.

Wow it's harder to explain then I thought O_O Hope all that makes sense

It does make sense, indeed. But if you're defining reality by the limitedness (is that a word?) of poosible outcomes/responses then school has to be, according to your definition or reality, unreal since you either graduate in the end or you don't. It's just those two things.

And does this limit of outcomes prevent something from having happened. I mean, haven't I stomped King Whomp's back tonight with Mario?

I really don't see any type of arguement to be found here. I think what Spitfire is trying to get at is that events and occurences in videogames aren't real. Sure, they exist digitally, but they never happened in real life.

The reenactment of the U.S. Civil War makes sense, because it's historical. It has a purpose to being retold and reenacted, to inform and educate. As where the reenactment of a videogame has no real purpose. It's just a bunch of weirdo's running around playing, which makes it weird to him.

I mean...who wouldn't find that just a little weird? Full-grown men and women playing. And let's face it, that's what they're really doing. I used to dress up as Spider-Man or the Ninja Turtles as a kid and act out the recent episodes. That's basically what these people are doing, except they're three times the age of a child. I agree with Spit, It seems pretty damn weird.

As far as cosplay goes, that's actually quite well done. Hell, if a bunch of my friends said "Hey, lets put on some police riot gear and pretend we're shooting zombies in that old warehouse down by the dock!" I'd totally be game.

Wow, I got here a little late. My Firefox F'd up, and I just got around to fixing it, so now I can get to the Technodrome forums again. Anyway...

Yeah, that's some scary sh*t right there. You should check out the cosplay official website. It'll make sure you never sleep soundly again.

Not it was a game of sorts. They do them every year, they usually just do one game but this seemed to be multiple. And they play music and I think keep score and give out prizes and stuff. I guess I would have to try it before I say anything bad about it but I wouldn't feel right. I would be laughing the entire time while these people are being serious o_O And I'm sure having some fun too but I've seen actualy videos of this stuff before and they were serious O_O

This one group every year goes out and does the newest game. Like a movie almost, they film it and everything, but it's like realtime and the guy playing the main character doesn't know what is going to happen to him. It's weird. They did RE 4 recently o_O

Yeah, see THAT is weird. It's one thing just taking pics in home made costume another entirely to play as the character.

I hate at Cons when people are in Character. It's like, dude... You aren't really Kenshin.

That's what I was talking about, dude. I wasn't talking about people who just dress up for fun.
