Snake Plissken Chronicles return

Hello everybody,

as you might have guessed, Snake Plissken is my favourite hero ever. Or anti-hero. I have known him since I was 5 and I was more than happy to read the comic books that appeared in 2003. Four issues, then CrossGen went bankrupt. No more Snake for me. And for all the other Snake fans.

But now. 2005. Really good news!

Reviving a series that last saw life in 2003 Alias Comics has confirmed for Newsarama that it has teamed with Hurricane Entertainment to bring back John Carpenter's Snake Plissken Chronicles, stories based on the character from the John Carpenter films, Escape from New York and Escape from LA. The return will be the first of several projects coming from the two companies.

Snake Plissken Chronicles will see life first in November as a collection of the original four-issue miniseries which was originally published by CrossGen and Hurricane – with a cover by legendry film poster painter Drew Struzan. Alias Executive Director Mike Miller: “The sales on the title were strong from start to finish. It was a no-brainer to agree to publishing the trade. Then when I saw that one of my favorite artists of all time was doing the cover, I just about fell out of my chair. Drew Struzan is a modern day master of the craft!"

Originally, the series was one of the licensed feathers in the cap of CrossGen’s CGE imprint. Two issues were published under CGE, while the remaining two were published by Hurricane.

"The cover alone is worth the price of the trade, but luckily, people will get a killer story with some fantastic artwork by fan favorite penciler Tone Rodriguez to boot!" Miller said. "We're getting a LOT of really great properties coming through our doors lately, but I have to admit that this is a big one for me, personally."

John Carpenter's Snake Plissken Chronicles will be available for to order in the September issue of Previews for November release from Alias Comics.

To me, that's the news of the year! I can't wait. Stupid september, stupid october.

And this is going to be the cover:

That's great to here. I wanted to get Plissken Chronicles when it first came out, but unfortunately my comic store didn't carry it. Perhaps since it's returning, they will, and in doing so might stock some back issues.

That is an awesome cover, as well. This Drew Struzan is very good.

From what I've gathered Drew Struzan is "the man" when it comes to drawing movie posters. And the first issue of the Alias-series will be a paperback of all the issues already published. The whole JFK-arc will be republished and then we'll see what comes next.

And because I'm a total idiot and stuff, I'm going to get the TPB allthough I've already read the JFK-arc.

God, I still can't wait.

Hmmm...I LOVED Escape From New York. I'll give this a chance

Off-Topic: Wasn't a Snake Plissken video game and anime announced way back when? What happened to those projects?

Yup, they still are "out there" somewhere. They haven't been cancelled or released. It is all supposed to be "in the making". But, you know, as dim as chances might seem, Snake's not really dead. Everybody said in NY, that they thought he was dead, but he wasn't. So, until I hear about the projects' cancellation I still believe that they're going to release it someday.

... And I just decided, being hammered and all, that I dersperately need oneof these USPF-T-Shirts.
