Next gen Sonic title to be unveiled...TOMORROW *56K Beware*

http://games.kikizo.com/news/200509/019.asp

Based on the closed doors video at E3 where a render quality Sonic (looking better than ever) fought a mechanical army of drones, which gunned Sonic down, dead, period. He then was rezed as Super Sonic and blew them to hell. It ended with a generic logo and "comming soon" statement. It was badass as all hell. You can find it on the web if you look. It will be shown as an actual game tomarrow morning at the Japanese Sega press conference, then presumably playable at Tokyo Game Show next week.

Presumable multi-platform, though appearing on Xbox 360 first because, well, it's comming out first.

Virtua Fighter 5, After Burner 3, Shadow, Sonic Rush, and next gn SOnic. Sega' back b*tches.

I fixed it. I don't like that, either.

And I knew hannah would orgasm over this news. It does sound pretty good. I'm always up for a new Sonic game, as long as they don't make another Sonic Heroes.

After playing Shadow, I'm pretty sure Sonic Heroes will stay dead and buried.

As long as it's fast and beautiful, it's all good.

I sure hope that rumor about an OVA based on the Shadow game is true, though...

*tear*

That has to be some of the most beautiful sh*t I've ever seen in my life. Truly, truly it is.

Presiding over the game's development will be none other than Yuji Naka, who, along with character designer Naoto Ohshima, created the original Sonic game for the Sega Genesis in 1991. According to Sega, Naka will "create the most intense sensation of speed ever experienced in videogames" with "an innovative combination of art, physics and game design."

"We are proud to re-create our famous friend, Sonic, for a new generation of gamers on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360," said Naka. "With Sonic the Hedgehog, we have gone back to our starting point, more than 15-years ago, to reinvent the attitude and speed that made our hero a legend. The 'rebirth of Sonic' will offer an unparalleled sense of speed that is only possible using the processing power afforded by the new systems."

So basically Yuji Naka is finally directing his first Sonic game since Sonic Adventure? Two words.

THANK GOD!

I am so fu*king happy right now.

Oh, and don't flip out over the lack of a Revolution release pegged. Sega's doing the "do not quote on rumors and speculation" bit when we ask them about that, so I'm sure we'll hear something on the 16th when Rev is fully unveiled. Til then, I gotta drool at those screens some more.

*proceeds at making saliva puddle*

Tis a good day for Sonic fans. A good day indeed.

*edit*

The Links don't work. I'll post them. Prepare to re-size your browsers...

If that isn't enough to make any SOnic fan cry tears of joy, I just don't know what is. Georgious visuals, classic Genesis sound effects, and 60FPS + speed. I can sooooo die happy now. They swore this is in game visuals too. We're finally at the point where the games look better than the render art. Fu*k yeah.

I saw some really crappy filmed footage of this a week or two ago... wasn't too impressed.

The graphics look good, though as usual I'm more interested in how it plays. I didn't like the gameplay in the Sonic Adventure games. If it's like that, I'll be skipping out.

Sonic Adventure was unequeled, Sonic Adventure 2 was okay, Heroes needs to burn in hell after being skewered and beaten, and Shadow looks to be between Adventure 1 & 2 somewhere. If Shadow is a return to form, then I expect this to be fu*king legendary. Sonic Team seems to finally be gettin goff their ass and doing something new.

Yeah, this is the game I was talking about when I made this post in the other Sonic thread:

Quote:
Is this that Sonic game I saw the video trailer for (with him racing througha forest, into an abondoned building, battling a bunch of badniks with machine guns and then blasting out the roof)?

Looks pretty cool, though I'd like to have a good 3D Sonic game like the first adventure title (only fixing all the bugs) instead of a racing title.

A Sonic game with massive free-roaming adventure fields would be fantastic. The levels in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes were pretty much just race tracks, anyway.

TMB, did they have a soild camera program working at E3? If they've fixed that, Shadow and this game will be worth a purchase.

As nice as those look *I mean WOW* I have a feeling the game is going to suffer from the same flaws the others did. I don't want levels that are stright forward. Most of the levels are a on track thing and you just go foward. You almost never steer off this one path. I want a game thats more free roam or something. A big area and you run around it doing what ever it is you have to, so advance. I want to be in Sonic's world itself not on some path. In Devil May Cry your in a huge area with freeroam. You have objectives but you don't have to follow them. In Mario '64 and Sunshine it's like that as well. And In Resident Evil. I want a game that lets me decide what I do next. Not one that tells me to run foward and do something. I just hope the change the formula. It's broken to me and needs to be fixed...

Well, it was a really early build they had there. The only thing that actually seemed to not have many bugs was the camera. And that's a bit of an overstatement. The game ran fine really. There were some loading issues on the Gamecube version that will be ironed out, the Xbox version had murkey textures, and the PS2 version was....well, sh*t. But the Gamecube version (which it was developed on) was excellent and the camera never gave me any problems nor did it cause me to fall off of cliffs like the old one. Still needs some work, but that was 4 months ago and there's still time to go before launch so I think it'll turn out great.

That screen there gives me a lot of hope that there will be some freeroaming in this game. I really doubt they would recycle the by that time 7 year old Sonic Adventure engine for a next gen game. Too many holes and things to patch that take away from the game's performance. I think they'll get it right. Naka's back on this one, and Sega's back to full speed, so I have faith in them.
