I'm with Leo Rules. I would like a middle ground better but dark if i had to choose. A darker tmnt allows for so many stories and themes that would have had to go if the show/comic was light and colorful.

I love the OS, but Mirage comics kicks the **** out of it with it's gritty/darkness and none "Pizza pie in the face" action.

I like my turtles on the half shell. A mix of both, but I'd probably like darker and more realistic. I liked the show alot though.

I like the TMNT on the cartoons and serious comics as well, but I remember seeing this comic called Bodycount and it had so much blood and gore , it was like the comic book spawn. People getting cut up which looks sick.

Depends.
When I need a good laugh, I watch either the great OT, the on par 2nd movie, the sub-par 3rd movie, or the utter crap-fest that is NT:TNM
When I want butt kicking ninja action, I watch the first movie and the NT

Mmkay.

It depends on what I'm doing, really. I enjoy to write dark turtles... with a bit of crude humor mixed in. When I read fanfiction, it really doen't matter, though I perfer dark.

...And watching TMNT shows? I like a mix.

Dark and Serious...that is what makes the series so great. It's gritty and not all sunshine and flowers.

I Loved The Old Show, Its What Started Me Into The Ninja Turtles. But Its Not Timeless. I Cant Sit Through 200 Episode Of It Today. I cant Draw From It. Its Not Stimulating. No Way. The Old Toon Is Not For Everyone And Is Not For Every Stage Either. Thats Why I Dont Like It. I Like My Turtles Dark And More Realistic And Relatable (relatively).

I think I agree with what Laird said about the difference between the OT and NT...

The OT was humor with action, and the NT is action with humor.

That said, I love just about every incarnation of TMNT I've seen (haven't seen Next Mutation *whew*) and for their own reasons. But my favorite is the way the new toon handles it... a lot of kick-butt action, real serious storylines, but a good one-liner every now and then.

But, as I keep saying, I really want to read more Mirage. I don't like stuff that's too gross on the gore, but I can handle (and prefer) grit over too much silliness.

That's kinda tricky...

Like, I prefer the dark, mature, gritty style, but I also adore and have a great respect for the original series.

I'd have to agree, but all things considered, I like the whole range!

I know I watch the new series DVDs more then the OS DVDs. I grew up on the original but like the show I have matured and appreciate the new darker style. Plus I love going back to all my comics and comparing As for movies the first one for sure. Really anywhere I see TMNT makes me happy.
