What if...

Hello, Jester again. A thought occured to me. There's gotta be a lot of things in the TMNT universe that make fans think, "What if...?"

Like this: We all complain about the costuming in TMNT 3...especially Master Splinter. But what if Jim Henson's Creature Shop had stayed on to do the animatronics? Do you think TMNT 3 would rank higher than TMNT 2? I mean it brings Casey back, it didn't have Vanilla Ice, it had the guys using their weapons, and had some great humor, especially Donnie.

I don't think all of that mattered. TMNT at that time was a fad on its way out so it wasn't as big in the box office. However since the turtles did go back in time to ancient Japan, it would have been better if they had taken the story arc from the Mirage Comics where the turtles go back in time and Raphael trains these ninjas and ultimately creates the Foot clan. That would have been a better script to have for the movie instead of the whole April falls for a Casey look alike ancestor. Although I did enjoy the part with Michaelangelo falling for that warrior girl and nearly getting left behind in the past. That was some of the good elements of the movie, but still...the movie had so much potenticial and they didn't do anything with it

Subtle Nuances of TMNT: (If you noticed these, then hey, I didn't until today so SHUT UP!! )

The Rebel Spy: When Walker and Lord Norinaga sign the deal of guns for gold this guy watches it happen:

not long after Mitsu tells the guys of the Daimyo's attack in the morning:

Eariler, while Casey is teaching his father's honor guard hockey, Kenshin looks longingly at this poster on the TMNT's den wall:

At the very end of the film, when the 2 love birds are reunited Kenny mimics that very poster:

Now a massive con in TMNT costuming, look at Leo's actor eye slits...

I do think that the story is pretty good, the action and humor may just trump "Secret of the Ooze," but those costumes (along with the re-casting of Splinter, I missed Kevin Clash) really takes away from it.
