Junkstabomb!

Have you ever tried to explain slang to "an adult"? Do you remember any expressions you used Back in tha DAY that you don't use anymore?

Once upon a time I tried to explain the expression, "that junks is the BOMB" to the Chief Financial Officer of a major corporation. It means, "that's the best thing ever!" For months after he would randomly point at things he liked and say, "junkstabomb! junkstabomb!" with a manic smile.

That was not appropriate usage of the phrase, but it certainly entertained him.

(Despite how this story sounds, he's actually a cool cat who plays some mean blues piano and introduced me to jam sessions. I'm sure he would say of my JPL's music, "junkstabomb!" )

You know, there's one thing that is worse than explaining that to "adults", it's when they try to actually use it. My mom's one of the rare cases where it occasionally works out, because she hears it every day from her students, but other people, who don't work with teens on a daily basis, are terrible slang-speakers.

But then again, there was this one project we had at school where we had to analyze today's and yesterday's teen-slang. Some idiot was brilliant enough to throw in the word "ross" which means "Stoned" in swiss german's youth slang. Of course, this just had to backfire on the potheads in our class (and for some reason, they always thought I was one of them. Can't blame them though, although I didn't really smoke weed during that time). So we had to avert a crisis and keep the person from telling that it means "stoned" since one teacher knew that the guys were smoking weed, mainly because he did it too. So in the end, we agreed on "in a funny, but not good, mood". Of course, the teacher, being the nutcase he was, started to use that word from then and kept it up for about two months until finally forgetting it.

Ah yes, drugs and our school... the stories I could tell...

I tried to explain my use of "word" as a word of agreement to a 65 year old once. Hell, more than once. Poor guy had a bit of a short-term memory problem, so every time I'd use it, he'd demand that I explain myself. And every time I explained it, he'd say something like "Oh, you're so clever!" or "Wow, guess you learn something new every day." No, not if you don't freakin' retain it. I must have explained it to him well over a dozen times.

I eventually just stopped using any slang around him because it got rather annoying having to explain every off-color expression, phrase and curse to him, multiple times.

Actually, on the subject of "word", every time I used it around my mom she'd throw up some sort of half-assed gang sign and shout "To ya mutha!" It used to annoy the hell out of me, but now that I don't actually live with her anymore, it's charming.

There's very little slang I do use seriously. I usually use internet/gaming slang in my speech, but not that much. I use a lot of slang in jest, of course, but I always hate myself afterwards. I hate the slang coming from the urban, thug life livin'...uh...low pants wearin' gangta's more than anything. Stuff like "Bait Out" just drives me up the wall. I especially hate the ones who say "yo" after every other word or "nah". I want to stab them.

The other day JameO and I were waiting for the bus and these three gangsta kids, who probably should have been in school, walked up to the bus stop and started smoking their **** up right there. It made me sick. Then when they started beat boxing, saying "yo, guy!" and singing some lame ass Nelly song...well I wanted to crack their skulls open. At least the hipsters back in the 80's and 90's were tolerable.

Yeah that drives me insane, I hate teens in general now adays, makes you want to just scream, I HEAR THE GOD DAMN MUSIC ALREADY, I hate how there is always a need to blare music and race down streets, personally, I wish they would run into a telephone poll, and not hurt anyone else but themselves, the idiots inside, they ruin our streets and all this gangster stabbings and **** is just outragous, get a life and live the real world for once, and the whole. How about we all just act normal and stop commiting crimes just because it's "cool", and put back into the community, not take away. People suck, period!

Honda Civic = 10 000
Parts For "Racing" = 1000
Ugly A$$ Fin For The Back = 100
16 year old who can barely see over the dashboard = Priceless

I also really don't use any slang when I talk too unless I'm deliberantly trying to be silly and impersonate a stereotype.
The only thing really noticable when I talk is that I often say "like" alot. Something I'm trying to cut down on.

And yes, rap slang these days are so stupid and irritating. I'm with you, Peanut. Makes me want to stab them in the crotch, then the face!

I'm your average slanger. Lately, I've been using a lot more internet slang than the standard 'thug' slang.

Most of the time, though, I try to speak intelligently to break out that mold of my life. Especially online.

Fo' shizzle.

Ah...this reminds me of the time when I tried to explain to my dad the correct usage of the word "Suss", and all of the sentance structures that it should/should not be used in.

Good times, good times...
