Will Fast Forward Be the End of the TMNT
Is anyone else worried about the new direction of the show. I understand they have to do something different to attract more people, but this is a risk. I believe that Fast Forward will be the end of the TMNT as we know it, or be a great success and make them bigger than they ever were before...Your thoughts?

As any other fan, I hope it doesn't end. But we have to face the reality that it's gonna end sooner or later.
Either way, IMO, it's gonna be THE 'jumped the shark' moment.

I admit to having a bad feeling about this Fast Forward stuff. Maybe it'll be more interesting if Bishop and Rat King have some part to play in it (and considering that Bishop is pretty much immortal, it could happen). Course, I'll probably be even less enthused with Fast Forward if this season ends with some unresolved stuff that's going to be have to wait for FF to end before it can be taken care of.
I just don't know. This may end up being to the new show what the start of the Red Sky era was to the old show. Don't know how well recieved that was back in the day, but it was when I started to lose a lot of interest in the old show.

Well if that press release is any indication, it's possible. The whole point of Fast Forward seems to be trying to make up for the amount of money 4kids has lost on TMNT by attracting a new And bigger audience. If Fast Forward fails, that may be it for awhile

I think you all need to get a new hobby. Worrying so much isn't healthy. The show is marketed towards kids. What do kids want in a show? What causes them to lose interest? Not the same things that you are afraid of with the new season. They aren't as worried about the story line as you are. They just wants to see new adventures with new, exciting characters. That seems to be exactly where the show is going. The only problem is that they grow up, and that's why they lose interest. (They become teenagers, ad we all know how they are.)
"This fall, get ready to fast-forward 99 years and meet the Turtles of the future with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fast Forward. Brought to the future by Cody Jones, the grandson of Casey Jones and April O’Neil, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael are forced to adapt to a whole new world – without their home, junk food or Shredder." The article referred to it as a new TV series, and said it'd have 26 stand alone episodes. Last edited by Gary; 04-06-2006 at 06:55 PM. |

And, in removing the Turtles from their time and plunking them into another, they're ditching almost all of the supporting cast! There aren't going to be that many characters in common, besides the guys, and even if there are, they'll have changed a lot. I can see this for a story arc, but a whole season is really taking the plunge! However, it will be pretty interesting to see how much of Volume 4 ends up in there. Quote:

Am I worried? Sure. Will it change that it's coming? No. Do I hope that somehow it will be good? Definitely yes.
I just hope that we get to see some resolution when the series as a whole ends, and I can die happy. |

And secondly, you've got your facts ass-backwards, it's NOT a seperate series, it's the sixth season made into the fifth by corporate urging, ask Dan |

Notice how I said "the article." Now if you'd breeze on up to the toys forum and read a new thread made by a guy named 'tmntman' you'd see that there was a link about some toys from the series that come out in the fall.
The three children in my life don't care for the show, two of them actually "hate it," as my niece told me. I don't know who is responsible for making this show stay on the air. Remember a show called "Power rangersecond ?" WHat does the youth demographic tell you about that one? I loved it in sgrade, but grew away from it when the characters changed. People lose interest when stories repeat themselves. "Hey, guys, the evil shredder is attacking! Lets go foil his plans!" they're chaning the series like this to keep it interesting and fun to watch. A lot of show's writers lose things to write about so the show starts to fall off. Don Adams refused to be in an episdoe of 'Get Smart' because it was the exact same story as a previous episode, but in a different location. Like you said, children aren't stupid. They know when the turtles are doing the same thing every week. this show seems to have a good team of writers, so as long as the ratings don't drop, fox won't drop the show like they do with everything else they air. And the ratings won't drop if the show stays new and exciting; keeps the kiddies interest. |

Yes, of course. They are changing the setting of the show, therefore the writers will forget how to write good stories and interesting characters and the show will die. Duh.

Yes I'm a little worried. I liked the way they were doing it, with complex story arcs and strong character development. If FF can keep those aspects but get a large demographic slice of the pie, then I'm for it.

Laird paid for the Lost Season to be made and put on DVD with his own funds. He can do that with future seasons if need be. DVD sales must be good if he can afford to do that. BUY ALL THE DVDS. That's all I can say.

I've bought them all, except the latest one. I saw it at Best By, but it had a black case, and was chipped.

If it comes to that, I believe I'll start getting them all from now on. As it stands now, I've only got a select few of the DVDs...

i think there will be one more season after fast forward, mainly because of the movie. that will gain some interest for a while, anyway.
i'm not worried, either way, it's been bigger and better than i ever thought when it first started, so i'll be satisified either way.

I still trust the authors of the show, even though I don't like the Fast Forward idea. I hope they will surpruse us. And I certainly don't think it will be the end of the show, we all know that the 6th season is being worked on

26 standalone eps = 30 minute commercial format where nothing is connected to the previous eps, no continuity, no references to previous experiences = crappy cartoons. That's all this sounds like, 30 min. commercials just to plug the damn toy line and crap. They've been doing that recently too...shoving products in our face. The ep they just showed, with them spending 3 mos in the dino times felt like an afterthought(i know it was in the comics) and threw it in there to get kids to want the dinosaur toys. Ugh. This is what leads me not to wanna watch it. But I am...just for Raph. Yeah it's true the kids it's targeted at just want a fun, exciting show to watch. The diff between fan and average kid, is we actually care about the series and characters.

Seriously, how many threads are we going to have about the same thing?
We haven't been wronged yet so I won't put my opinion in till I see it. We'll all be back here next season anyway so wait until then to either praise it or bitch about it. |
