Technodrome question

How many different locations was the technodrome in during the original TMNT?

As far as I remember, it started out on earth, ended up back in Dimension X, returned to earth using energy from Niagra falls power station, got stuck in the earths core for quite a while, then propelled by a missile back to Dimension X at the end of season 3. (The last season aired in the UK, atleast on terestrial TV anyway)

What happened to it after that?

In season 4 the Technodrome was on a floathing island in Dimension X, then opened a portal to Earth in the beginning of season 5 only to get stuck in North Pole. It will remain there until season 6 where it will sink into the depths of the ocean.

Finally, in the end of season 7 Krang and Shredder have the Technodrome roll over the city once again, but they will eventually get separated from it as the turtles throw the technodrome back in Dimension X while the villains are stuck on earth.

Season 2- Dimension X
Season 3- Earth's Core
Season 4- Dimension X on an Asteroid
Season 5- Arctic
Season 6 and 7- Bottom of the Ocean
Season 8- Balaraphron (part of Dimension X)

what I could never figure out is why the hell they didn't just ditch the freaking thing all together. It was always low on fuel and never at full power, so why bother hanging on to it, the damn thing was close to useless.
