TMNT Vol 4 #27

Preview for #27 is up!

Michelangelo encounters his worst nightmares.

Don and Raph investigate the Guardifriend.

Leo finds himself alone and out-numbered in the Battle Nexus.

What that outline doesn't say is that Don's also chased by a hungry kitty.

You guys are gonna LOVE the last page of this issue!

Spoiler:
The Shredder's back!!!

Or is he?

Anyway, good issue, felt like a lot of progression, for some reason. Starting to like Raptarr a little bit more.

Also, from the letter's page, Laird make a request to the fandom, of sorts:

"I think all Usagi Yojimbo fans should start bombarding 4Kids -- or any other appropriate studios/broadcasters -- with requests for an Usagi Yojimbo animated series. It couldn't hurt!"

Apparantly, Laird is big on the idea of an Usagi Yojimbo cartoon, and if 4Kids sees enough fan support, hey, it might happen!

Wow! Amazing issue. Especially the suprise return at the end... I'm really intrigued to see where this goes from here. I'm wondering how the Battle Nexus will relate to the one depicted in the new show.

Mikey's story is shaping up to be pretty cool as well. I'd love to see him and the Triceratons kick some ass. It's also cool to see Mr. Yogu back in action again.

The last few issues have been really awesome. Keep it up Mirage!

Wow! I'm really surprised more people aren't talking about the two issues that just hit us this week. The links to the Shredder in both are very intriguing, and the last page reveal of TMNT this week was better than the one in Daredevil this month!

These are probably my two favourite issues at the moment (this and Tales).

Now that's what I call a cliffhanger.
Spoiler:
While I knew to expect some Shredder stuff to go down in Tales this week, I wasn't expecting that in the main title. Certainly caught me by surprise.

It's interesting to note that this Shredder doesn't quite share his comic counterpart's fashion sense. With the exception of this one having two clawed gloves, he's practically the current animated series' Shredder.

It's gonna be a long sixty days... But it'll be well worth the wait.

I agree. The surprise guest does not resemble the comic version of the character, but rather like a more updated version. Either way I am completely psyched. Over the last 4 or so issues Laird has really amped up this series. It's becoming one of my favorite storylines.

Still, you look at how the characters aesthetics have changed over the years... this is certainly different to his last appearance, which was different again to the one before that, and that to its own predecessor. It's the same with the Foot ninjas, they'v changed in little ways all th way through.

Yeah, this issue surprised the hell out of me at the end. But I might have an idea of who this "Shredder" is.

Spoiler:
To be honest, I think The Shredder is Shredder's apprentice that we were introduced to in the latest Tales issue.

And it's great to see a lot of stories finally progressing. I like how Pete tied Donny's and Raph's conditions in to settle Shadow's situation. Great stuff! It's about time that storyline started to pick up the pace. I guess Mr. Yogu is out of business(?). Seems that way, but his Guardifriends seem to be very convenient for him.

Mike's story has easily become one of the best! It's great to see him finally out of the custody of the Strycadons. Him teaming with the Triceratons is probably going to be the strangest thing ever. But it seems the Triceratons aren't holding much against Mikey for his past actions against them. Perhaps they've learned to accept defeat; maybe even form a different system where they don't follow evil dictators like Zanramon. Anyway, I can't wait to see this story commence.

And Leo's story, yes, has officially become the best one! Shredder reappearing at the end was the cherry on top. Not only do we see Leo finally put his ninja skills to use (which we haven't seen in a while), but he is confronted by The Shredder. I seriously think this story arc has officially become the best. It's even better because this story strays far away from the sci-fi theme that Pete's been going by lately (which I seriously didn't like). I think this arc is going to be what really saves this series.

And I'm now starting to appreciate Lawson's art a bit. I still think he could do better, but I think I'm over it now. He's still making the scenarious really detailed, and his style is starting to grow on me. I'm not saying I like it or anything, but it's not a bother as much as it used to be.

I picked up this issue yesterday and it was great. I was really glad to see that Mikey is getting help from those Triceratons. I just hope they survive what they're gettin' themselves into. That was good to see Raph help Don when those guys were about the kill him. It was intresting to see Don interact with the guy who thought he was an action figure. Good thing Raph came at the right time and collapsed the roof on those dudes. Leo looks like he's got his hands full with those Battle Nexus characters. The action for that part was intense. Looks like we'll find out if the Shredder at the ending is Oroku Saki or not. Who knows? It could just be average Joe wearing Shredder's armor. Looks like we'll have to wait and find out. I just know the sixty days will be worth the wait.

I thought Don's sequence was really funny in a lot of ways, I dunno. The issue was definitely a pleasure to read.

Mike's dream was cool, too.

He's baaaaaack...or is he? Perhaps this is one of the Ninja Tribunal?

Mike's storyline is interesting...he's teaming up with Triceratons! But man...is he ever gonna get his teeth fixed? That dream of his was weird. When the egg hatched and it had 3 heads, one of which looked like Splinter, I was like WTF?! And to top it off...the one with the turtle head even had a mask on!

But yay!!! Raptarr's back!!! He's all healed up from nearly being killed by Gameraph! Oh and Raptarr...don't you know that smoking is a bad habit? tsk tsk...some hero you are...

Here's my post from another forum:

Maybe I can offer some sort of a theory here.

Remember how the warriors wore coins around their necks with Al Gore on them? That suggested that they were from an alterate reality all together. The BattleNexus is an alterate reality in the sense that you can't get there by traveling through space. So it seems then, that Laird is playing around with the idea that there could be an alternate reality where Saki never died. This Saki would of course be a *different* Saki, while being "the same" in some senses. This Saki would possibly have never even MET the TMNT. THAT would definitely be interesting.

I've been playing around with alternate reality theory quite a bit on my own, and it seems to me that its possible that being that the cartoon and the comic book are two seperate realities, it's POSSIBLE that they are going to intersect.

I don't think it's Karai or a female Shredder, because the feet and hands looked too big to be those of a woman.

Absaraka is probably a better person to talk to regarding alternate reality theory. I think that when Laird said Shredder wouldn't be coming back, he meant that the Saki of the Mirage timeline reality wouldn't be resurrected. That's all. To say that "Shredder" wouldn't ever return would be ridiculous, since "Shredder" is more of a concept/idea than it is a person. Sort of like whoever puts on the mask in the movie "The Mask" takes on that persona.

ok I liked it allot actully and I'm quite happy I'ved found it I've been talking to several comic shops here in los angeles and they tell me it's been really hard to get the tmnt books in the shops thats why I haven't been able to find them anywhere! ugh!
Anyway back to the issue! Did anyone else think Jim Lawsons art looked pretty good in this issue that new bad guy Mr. Yogu seemed pretty cool and like he's really up to something...I think this vistors to earth thing is going to cause allot more problems them people realize.
Mikes dream was crazy with the 3 headed monsterI wonder what it means it seems to be splinter?, raph?,and one of the princesses guards?
and him being tied down to them very strange in symbolic.
That part actully had me fealing mike I haven't ever really felt anything in the tmnt comics before but him being so afraid of that monster..I felt that...good job to peter and jim on that one.
Strange thing about the old Triceraton that died he must have been important for them to want to get him back..shame they had been to late...
Man that cat was so annoying reminds me of the old cartoon when Mike got shrunk lol...I always hated that shrink and get chased by a big animal thats usually smaller than you idea but I'm more than sure that's what would happen if you really did get shrunk down lol.
I wonder if Don will ever get back to normal size.
Damn Mr. Yogu must really be up to something with his guardifriend bots...I have a fealing though he's working for some one that he's not the head boss but hell I could be wrong.
It was great to see Raph beet the crap out of those guys and destroy things lol while still being able to talk..I've gotta admit I don't like him in this form though...it's just not raph to me.
Those life form wings are wierd I wonder what that's all about something we haven't seen in the comic before that's for sure I like when people throw out new ideas like that.
It's nice to see Raptarr back also it was a nice unexpected return..cause I thought he was been killed by Raph.
Now on to Leo and this Battle Nexus thing..you know it's cool and all but I just hope it's not conected to the cartoon I love the toon and all don't get me wrong but I would find it really lame and a way to sell more comics if laird put things from the toon in the comic book unless it was some kind of crossover.
It was great to see Leo in combat though it's been a long time!
I hated that giant monster though it seemed kinda stupid...oh wait it's a mutated deer is what he said I think lol..silly and was just used to have shredder show up...it also looked like some sort of dr, sues reject lol.
BUT! I was shocked to see this Shredder at the end of the comic whomever it may be it was quite a huge shock seeing as Peter Laird said he would never bring him back ever not even as a cheesy zombie lol.
over all it was a great read just wish it would come out sooner but I've got tales to hold me over till it does.

Fugitoid revealed a couple issues back that Raptarr was seriously injured but would be ok. Guess he heals quickly. It's been a little over a month comic time since Raph mutated and shot Raptarr.
